2007 FIRST Regionals Play by Play Announcer/Emcee Edition

NJ/NYC/Philly
MC: Wayne Penn
Game Announcer: George “The Voice” Ackley

A boat towed by mascots…You had to be there to believe it/experience it. I hope somebody has pictures/video somewhere. Verbrugge’s going to have a hard time topping that one at Championship.

Eric you are right! The opening ceremonies on Saturday morning were something to behold. Thanks to the “Team San Diego” group it went off great and the crowd went wild!!! The team Social at the Air and Space Museum in Balboa Park was also an evening not to be forgotten.

I’m not going to lie…without Wayne these competitions won’t be much. About 60% of the credit for the exciting regionals belong to that man (the other 40% belonging to the robots) I don’t think I’ve ever seen a MC pump up a crowd as much as Wayne does.

This is a GOOD thread…FIRST should be able to ADD the names of the MC and game announcer to their official web site list of all regional events.

For Finger Lakes Regional, now in its 3rd year, this year’s MC and game announcer were fantastic. After some last-minute changes and shuffles, Ellery Wong from Xerox came forward as the Master of ceremonies and did a great job over three days! The game announcer , JonnDar Bradshaw, was also fantastic, especially given that FLR had a video simulcast over our local cable TV provider (Time-Warner) and JohnDar did a great “color commentary” for the at-home viewers.

Kudos to both of them…FIRST should really add the names of all the MCs, game announcers, heads of regional committees, etc to the main web site…
