2007 Great Lakes Regional, Best Ever?

Today’s practice rounds were not as exciting as I thought they would be. I was able to be a human player for 1 of our 3 practice matches, and throwing the ringers onto the rack is hard. During the match, I landed 1 ringer on the lower goal by throwing it over the wall. A few robots that I noticed were 1188’s that has an arm and a ramp like last years, Team HOT with there amazing arm, and team their were a few more noticeable robots but do not remember them off the top of my head. I’m pretty sure tommarrow and Saturday will be very challenging and fun!

Good Luck to all the teams at GLR.

Today was a good day. There were three robots that stuck out to me and they were 33,67, and 65. There were a few others that were pretty good from what I seen but these were the 3 that stuck out the most to me. good luck to everyone tomorrow.

 i don’t know how everyone else feels, but i thought the load in was handled much better this year. hot does have a good arm . some nice ramps out there to.

I hear my team has a good arm :stuck_out_tongue:

But I’ve only talked to my team. I’m trying to find a way to skip classes tomorrow and go for 2 days instead of one:confused:

Is there a place to find the match list online now that the pits have opened and whatnot?

So this is the first time in about 5 years team 302 has not attended the Great Lakes Regional. Its killing me to know how the teams are doing. It looks like some insane competition this year with 33, 66, 67, 70, 201 , 279, 469, 494, and some others i cant think of off the top of my head. Please let me know and if you have footage of some matches post a link.

Thanks
Matt

Sorry if it’s been asked before, but could someone tell me where I might find a webcast of the GLR? I’ve looked on NASA and haven’t found it (the stream is blocked by my school)- is anyone else webcasting it?

Did 1114 break sometime on friday afternoon? I noticed they scored 0 points in a match (as did their opponents), and that seemed very un-1114ish of them.

I don’t know about the web cast, but i know about the 1114 thing. I can’t tell whether they died, or were disabled, but their robot lost mobility in the opponents home zone, thus penalizing them repeatedly. They ended up with 0 points that way.

1114 lost power and our alliance got a 30 pt penalty for being in the opposing teams home zone during the end of the match.

I don’t know about Friday (wasn’t there) but 1114 looked great today. A lot of teams did.

Good luck tomorrow all!!

1114’s ground came out of the power distribution block, causing them to become disabled. They then e-stopped. This happened roughly 35 seconds into the match, while they were in the opponents home zone. The 30 points of penalties negated their alliances row of 4, causing a 0-0 tie.

dang! maybe we should think about going to the GLR. that does sound very good. but every year that we have been to the state of florida for a regional, it seems that we run into great teams. and we had great success at KSC before they stopped that regional after 9/11. that was a tough regional, in comparison to the GLR this year.

Someone should have thought of tossing this one to the Q & A before the regionals. I remember that in years past, if you were in an area that was not allowed and became disabled you stopped receiving penalties. If you can’t move then well, you can’t move…

Nope, a robot in the home zone in the endgame is a huge penalty for the alliance that has to deploy/climb on a ramp there. Without a penalty for disabled robots, it would be too easy to just ask one defensive bot to just go disable itself in the home zone right before the beginning of the end period.
Of course it is bad luck, and I am sad to hear it happened to 1114, but this rule, for one, is consistent with the emphasis first has put on ramp deployment this year.

No comment Needed…

Match 49 3:31 PM Red: 818,1114, and 280 vs. Blue: 451, 1701, and 57. Final Score Red:256 Blue:0.

A team member has video of the match so I hope to post it soon.

please do please do  …ive been waiting all day for a reply with videos. This is by far my favorite regional and im missing it this year

not the high score of the season yet, but sounds like you guys are working on it

Francois.

They did.

I’m curious as to how last years rule read, but Ron Webb said last year that if you cannot make it out of the other teams zone (offense/defense stuff), that you could hit the E-STOP, thus, your robot would not be penalized for being in the wrong zone.

If I remember, I am going to ask him tomorrow about it.
