2007 Great Lakes Regional, Best Ever?

Big props to alliance 8 for putting up the biggest fight of any underdog so far, despite being the 8th alliance.

Edit: In fact, they put up the biggest score of ANY alliance, excluding alliance #1 itself.

Edit: Continuing list from previous page.

  1. 1114 - 67 - 57
  2. 573 - 503 - 1015
  3. 1213 - 322 - 33
  4. 308 - 469 - 68
  5. 494 - 1023 - 1503
  6. 70 - 279 - 1596
  7. 818 - 326 - 1

Match 2 went to 573/503/1015 score 48-22
Match 3 went to 573/503/1015 score 72-4

On behalf of team 65 I would like to thank team 548 and 1504 for being such great alliance partners. Congratulations to teams 573 503 1015 on your victory. Hope to see you guys soon in Cleveland.

CONGRATULATIONS 503, 573, and 1015 on the win! You guys were really great out there. Kudos to 503 for the Chairman’s too!

And thanks to all of the other teams out there for making this such a great regional! 226 truly had a blast!

Great job on the win, guys! It’s just too bad that so much stuff went wrong with our alliance’s robots right out of the gate.

We were so close…Thanks 1503 and 494.

Congrats 503, 573, 1015.

As part of the winning alliance (503), I would like to take this time to thank our alliance partners (573, 1015) for an awesome alliance! We really did it!

Right now I’m waiting on the videos to be uploaded. Hopefully they are soon.

As another on the winning alliance (1015 PiHi Samurai), I extend great thanks to 503 and 573 for the win.

I had much much fun. Felt like I was a high school student again.

We’re uncertain at this point whether we’ll be at nationals. I probably will be unable to skip my classes for two days, however :frowning: .

On behalf of team 818, I would like to thank teams 1 and 326 for being great alliance partners.

Paul Copioli had a very unique reaction to our misscore for round 2 of the QF. It took at least 10 minutes to sort out but apparrently the one of the referees with with the pda did not realize the spoiler and did not imput it.

Congrats to all the teams at GLR. I hope to see some of you at West Michigan, and Possibly Atlanta, and hopefully next year as well.

Frenchie, I won’t forget that stress ball for W.M. (I hope) and good luck to 469. Good job guys.

Tomasz Bania

From 1504, thank you sooo much to 548 & 65 for being great alliance partners! We knew you guys were going to come through when we picked you and we almost had them! Hope to see everyone at West Michigan and Atlanta!

Thanks. We knew that Alliance #1 was our biggest competition. We we’re quite shocked at the outcome of the matches actually. But it just goes to show how a spoiler can dramatically change the outcome of a match. Also, I may be wrong, but I think we had the highest score of 256 points during a eliminations match, although I may be wrong on that one.

I have to say that I think our alliance proved how rank has no real showing. Our team was seeded around 40ish. However, we got selected to be an alliance partner, mainly for our ramps, but we ended up not even using them. I think the key to this game is solid offense performance and critical placement of the spoiler.

Also, I’m interested in the selection of my team. It appeared as if other alliances were hoping to choose us because when 494 chose us (much to our surprise…we had no idea they were interested in our robot) that other alliance captains began to frantically shuffle papers and what not. But maybe it’s just my imagination…

Thanks to everyone for their help and congratulations to everyone. GLR was a great regional and I hope Boilermaker can bring on the heat next weekend! Also, maybe we can finally get that regional win and we’ll see everyone down in Atlanta this April.

Thank to 67 and 1114 for the great alliance. We’re still sorry we let them down in the semis with our battery difficulties, it would’ve been a heck of an interesting match if we’d kept it together.

Also huge, huge, huge thanks to 910. They lended us their expert welder on friday to weld together our busted BB trannies so we’d have our awesome ramps actually working so well today. We’d have been completely lost today without them.

Thanks to 33 and 322 for giving it all they had. No one expected the Bee’s run of bad luck in the quals to follow them into the elims. Not until we picked them, that is.

I prefer to look at it this way:
There were 25 teams who would have preferred to lose in the quarters, than to sit there and watch us lose. Come to think of it, there were a lot of people who would have preferred not to watch something that ugly. :o

More Martians, Team 70 thanks 1596 for picking us as alliance partners along with 279. All of you did an outstanding job. I thought it would of been really cool if we would of advanced to the finals as this would of put the two Martian teams on opposing alliances. That would of been an absolute blast.

Congrats to the winning alliance you guys put on quite a show.

This Regional had some absolutely awesome robots. The designs, concepts, build quality, fit, form and function of these robots just gets better each year. These robots wowed us all. I’m impressed!!!

1596 if you still need team buttons I have tons of them, send me a mailing address.

Thanks for picking us… It’s always a smart move to pick the Bee’s they are solid 99.9% of time, they just had some bad luck this weekend that they very rarely have. You guys did a great job on ā€œDā€. We just missed getting our 4th ring on the last match or that probably would have been enough. That was fun though, I’m looking forward to Western.

We had our moments; but ā€œDā€ is all about position, not aggression. They did not execute as we planned. Now I still don’t know if defense is key!

On behalf of Team 1503, Spartonics, I would like to thank teams 1023 and 494 for being excellent alliance partners.

Congrats to the winning alliance 503, 573, 1015.

I’ll be editing and uploading the videos to SOAP108 as soon as possible (Thanks to Joel J. for setting up the co-ordinated video program)

Thanks

I second that, and I want to personally thank 573 for sharing the fun with us 66 members that were getting excited along with them. Even though this is FIRST, you have to love winning, and especially in a heated competition as this one truly was.

This GLR was a BIG shocker, a BIG shocker… I loved it all, and makes me look forward to Buckeye. Just extremely happy we got the ramps to work once… just once… it’ll be better down in Cleveland. (knocks on wood)

I would like to thank team 494 for picking us, and both them and 1023 for being awesome alliance partners. We really regret that we weren’t able to fix our arm in time after it got mangled in the second match of the finals…

Congratulations to teams 573, 503 and 1015 - you guys worked together really well as an alliance, and your combined scoring and ramping power was a sight to behold.

It’s not your imagination - you guys were up there on our list, too.

The FIRST site has a minor inaccuracy - alliance #5 was 494 - 1503 - 1023.
