2007 Greater Toronto Regional

The party must still be going on – 771 doesn’t have far to drive to get home from Mississauga.

I hope they’re partying, because they’ve earned it! Good luck finding them.

Figures, out of all the things we’ve said over the years in support of FIRST in Canada, the one thing that gets aired on live webcast TV is our “Viagra Button”. :stuck_out_tongue:

I only put that on there after the kids nagged me to do it and I finally started to think it was funny. By the way, the kid interviewed was our OUTSTANDING driver, Johnny Pasco, who still never ceases to amaze me with his relentless ability to stick to robots like glue. I know he had Greg Phillips from 1114 scared. I wish we could have set up the offense vs. defense matchup I was hoping for. Stupid tread…:o

Congrats to all winners - it was a great event!

“For the want of a nail, the shoe was lost; for the want of a shoe the horse was lost; and for the want of a horse the rider was lost, being overtaken and slain by the enemy, all for the want of care about a horseshoe nail.” – Benjamin Franklin (usually attributed)

I have no idea what caused it - it was a clean, straight rip all the way through. We checked the tension of the treads between each match and it hadn’t changed. We were pushed sideways a bit when the offenders fought back a bit in earlier matches - maybe that was the start of it? Oh well, considering other teams’ issues with Brecoflex over the years, I like the success we’ve achieved with them.

i knew the belts were going to fail soon on you guys when i saw your driver try to turn into the bot that was pushng on your side for the entire match, a few matches earlier. When it happened i was not surprised but thought, i shoulda come down and told you. O well stuff happens and the regional was great to see and all. a lot less of a drive then others i knew to get home too.:stuck_out_tongue:

First I’d like to congratulate 771 on receiving the Chairman’s award.
I’d also like to thank teams 2056 and 1114 for choosing us to be a part of their alliance. We worked very well together.

Does anyone know if we can get a hold of that video they showed at the beginning of the elimination rounds.

I can probably get you a copy of the video.

I am working on splitting up all the matches from GTR, and will try and get the eliminations up as soon as I can… but a month of robotics means I have a little bit of school work to catch up on :ahh:, so I may not get all the matches up for a week or so.

I would Like to thank team 48 for helping us with programing and giving us the dongle it was really neat getting the robot to work on its own

Are first year at First it was great we came 20 out of 63 our robot was so ghetto. we only spent 400$ on top of the start up costs

I just want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who made GTR amazing (as usual) this year. It was so much fun. Can’t wait till next year!!!

I want to give a huge congrats to 2056, 1114, and 176 on their outstanding job at the regional. You guys were crazy!!! Never a boring moment.

Just a note…does anybody know where the video of 1547’s interview is? I never actually got a chance to see it besides part of it on a little moniter before I got interviewed…

Congrats to 176 for their first win out of the country!

I want to wish all the candian teams Good Luck to whoever is going down to Atlanta, WIn it for CANADA!!!

I just wanted to say GTR was an awesome experience for myself, as well as the rest of 176. Big thanks to 2056 and 1114 for picking us! I could not believe we were chosen, but it was great! Thanks so much in believing in us!

Big contrats to team 771 for Chairmans. You guys deserved it, and best of luck in Atl. I’m sure we’ll see you down there…Kayla i’ll come find you!

Again GTR was great!

176 has an amazing ability to do well… in all my years in first, I never give them the credit they are due, but they get it done time and time again. I still don’t understand their successes this year (WWZ Champs, UTC #1 seed, UTC Finalists, GTR Champs), but that won’t stop me from saying congrats to them. Best of luck at the Championships.

GTR was by far the coolest regional we went to i think. Everyone on the team really had a blast, great venue with plenty of space to expand!!! Also a big thank you goes out to 2056 and 1114 for picking us:D We had a great time driving with u guys in the eliminations

Good Luck in Atlanta and Your alliance was great. You guys are good hopefully you guys pair up in Atlanta LOL

I see the summary video is up now. I see our robot twice in it. Someone put a pile of work into the edit. Do all 63 robots appear at some point?

Discovery Channel has an archive up now. Not all matches there yet but they say this week. Also some extras.
