2007 IRI Application Process and Other INfo

Below are some of the highlights for the 2007 Indiana Robotics Invitational. The full detailed document will be released by Wednesday April 25.

Registration and details will be on the official IRI Website: www.IndianaRoboticsInvitational.org.

A Total of 66 Teams will be invited to compete.

NEW FOR 2007:

PRE-Challenge
New for 2007 is the “Pre-Rookie Exhibition Challenge”. The PRE-Challenge is for teams that are in the process of forming and did not compete in the 2007 FRC season. Teams will use robots loaned or given to them by existing FRC teams. Pre-Challenge teams MUST have an existing team as their mentor during the IRI. The Pre-Challenge is intended to allow these newly forming teams the opportunity to compete in actual FIRST matches and learn from experienced mentors, field personnel and referees the “how to” of FIRST competition. It is expected that these Pre-Rookie teams will work with their mentoring teams during the regular IRI competition to gain valuable experience.

Marcia Beatty Memorial Scholarship
Marcia Beatty was a lifelong educator and dedicated to young people, Team Hammond and FIRST in Indiana. To honor Marcia, who passed away this past year, the Marcia Beatty Educational Foundation and the Indiana Robotics Invitational are awarding a scholarship to a 2007 FIRST team graduate who is pursuing a career in education. This will be a $1500 scholarship.

The Marcia Beatty Memorial Scholarship will be in addition to the existing technical based scholarships awarded as part of the IRI.

The white paper outlining the 2007 IRI is now in CD Media.

Someone more talented than I can possibly post the link to it.

Can someone more talented post it in a format I can read?

:yikes:

Apologies, this is a Microsoft Print File and I thought was more universal.
Working on a PDF version - stay tuned.

Here’s the link:

And the pdf version:

Nothing like a student to show you up.

The .pdf version is now posted as well.

Miranda, can you add that link…

Thanks

What?? No dodge ball tournament?

Maybe a good 'ole fashioned carnival ring-toss instead…

We want to focus the extra time during the day Saturday for the Pre-Rookie event.

Registration page is up, but the form seems to be taking a long time. Any insight IRI folks?

And registered. Seamless!

You mean that’s it?? One simple form and a couple simple questions? I wanted to answer the validation question differently - What color is snow? Well, it depends on whether or not the neighbor dog has been in our yard! :ahh

Wow, you IRI guys are good!! Now I can’t wait for May 7th!!

Staring alternately at the clock and calendar…

Sean

The captcha asked me what is 10 - 5 and for some reason wasn’t satisfied with 5 (just refreshed and got the snow question no problem). Anyway, very nice job, went flawlessly otherwise. Got the confirmation email too, submission 20 at just 6:09… hope everybody gets their entrys in fast!

Submission 39 at 6:33 PM after a few tries - pared down the essay response a bit - not sure if that had anything to do with previous errors.

Overall a slick, efficient process. Good job, IRI guys and gals!

I just submitted but did not receive a number for it. All I got was, “Thank you for your application!” appearing in green above the now cleared form.

In my case, the number appeared in the header of a confirmation email sent to the primary email address I provided in the application.

Be sure to check your Spam/Junk box for the confirmation email.

Very nice application form, good job IRI committee! The verification e-mail for Team 980’s application indicated we’re #63

Any guesses as to the total number of applications the IRI committee will receive?

My guess: 234!

5:14…? some daylight savings thing must be ruining things.
6:14
