Below is the listing of 2007 IRI Invited Teams.
The Planning Committee had a challenging time creating this list -
there were 101 applications. We were able to expand the field to 72 teams.
Thank you to all who are interested and applied.
Our selection process was based on data (staying true to the engineering realm).
Indiana Teams that registered on day 1 or 2 received an automatic bid.
We then ranked teams based on Loyalty to the IRI, 2007 Competition Performance (Including match play and Regional Chairmans Awards), and what the teams have done to support the IRI, past or present.
We believe this was a fair and equitable way to select.
All invited teams should have received an email earlier this evening. This email has instructions for continuing the registration process.
All wait listed teams (9) should also have received an email earlier this evening.
All teams not in the above groups should also have received an email earlier this evening.
Stay tuned for more information.

If the finals on Einstein are the main event of our WrestleMania, this is definitely shaping up to be the Royal Rumble. (Or maybe Survivor Series, if you want to reserve the Rumble’s symbolism as the start of the road toward WrestleMania for a pre-ship like Winter War Zone.)
Not only that, but 5 more teams one a regional and were finalists at another. three of the four divisional #1 seeds are here as well as three of the first picks (five if you count 1114 and 330). There are about 50 teams that are super duper bonafide real deal teams, and it will be interesting because at least 18 are sitting out. I would not be suprised if at least one of the 14 world champions has to sit out the finals. The level of competition is uinbelivable, and I think that fourth spot will be very strategic.
This is going to be quite the little invitational. It’s going to be extremely tough for sure with all of those amazing teams going. Can’t wait for July!
I read through the first 40 or so teams with other mentors from our team hovering over my shoulder and our collective thought (after we cheered because we got in) was “oh crap!” (or something like that). The IRI Planning Committee has put together a real who’s who of FIRST teams. We’ve all got our work cut out for us!
were gonna have a fun time defending our title of 06 iri champs especially after not qualifying for champs.
there are so many team on that list i can’t wait to play with and would prefer not to play against(233,254, many many others)
plus i feel sorry for scouts having to cover 72 teams and pick 3 robots instead of 2
Last year we went 6 teams into the waiting list I think, and that was with a 60 team limit.
I wouldn’t want to guess for this year, but the requirements are for teams to make decisions quickly and complete their registrations so that others will have time to decide if given the option.
Interesting selection process. A lot of excellent teams, but not much chance if you are a rookie team and didn’t know about IRI in the past. Too bad, some of us could have learned a lot from seasoned pros!
Consider going there to observe and enjoy, maybe even volunteer! You can learn a lot from watching the teams work, scout, strategize and socialize. It’s a really fun event, $1/head for BBQ, and the talent show is included.
Indy is only about a 4-hour drive from St. Louis, I drove from Collinsville, IL last year and will do it again this year.
Watch that timezone thing, it used to be a little weird in Indiana, but now they’ve got it working…
