2007 San Diego Regional

Quick question, does anyone know what happened to the San Diego Webcast? I went online and coudn’t find one. Can anyone fill me in?

It (the link) was there a few days ago. What happened?

Must of got pulled. I think I read somewhere that it was depending on the avaibility of an internet connection for the team to do it (or maybe that was LA).

Either way … 1388 is on their way  Just passing through Oxnard. Can’t wait to see all you there (and see the 15 teams or so that were at LA also)

We will have the huge vise again, and anyone who needs it, is more than willing to come and use it. Just please don’t bring over any grinders and cut stuff with them (or any tools that are not allowed in the pits). We like to keep the Safety Judges happy :stuck_out_tongue:

We will also be passing out the IFI backup battery charging (etched) circuit boards (as mentioned above). It’s one per team, so please don’t lose it. The freshmen worked hard to make those boards. For anyone who cares, the boards were designed, etched and drilled all by students on team 1388. We ran the board during build season, and at the LA regional, and our backup battery lasted all day (with the camera). We did put the battery on the 120v charger at night though. We will also be giving each team a copy of the IFI schematic for assembling it. Please test your circuit before putting it on the robot. The charger will put out about 8.5v unloaded to the RC and the battery port. If you need any help or have any questions on the circuit, assembly or whatnot, feel free to come to our pits and ask for Mike (you can try Phatmike, but some of the newer kids might look at you funny.

A little birdie told me that there might be a team passing out part kits for those backup battery charging boards … the same birdie told me that those part kits were designed to fit into the board we’re passing out. I haven’t confirmed that the team will have the part kits, but if you look for some penguins cough 1717 cough in the pits, I’m sure they will be able to tell you if they have the kits. As far as I know, they do.

the webcast should still be available, but if it isnt, thats slightly depressing.
anyway, the feild set up was going very well when i had to leave it today, and i am so very ready for SD’s first FIRST event
does happy dance
lol
have fun teams

but please
be nive to those dang intertubes!
(coming from a feild reseter) lol

I’ll be stopping by today after my last final. =] Going w/a fellow ex-FIRSTer (okay so I’m dragging him 'cause he has a car down here…) and a couple of our non-FIRST friends. It’s been a couple years since I’ve been to comp so I’m excited! ^^

And of course we’re all gonna be sitting there watching trying to figure out the game haha. Good luck to all teams today and tomorrow! You’ll do great =]

Does anyone know the alliances if they picked them yet?

  1. 330 696 _____
  2. 1540 968 1834

That’s all I know.

Any updates so far?

the match results page is being updated, two quarters played so far

http://www2.usfirst.org/2007comp/events/SDC/matchresults.html

  1. 330 696 825
  2. 1540 968 1834
  3. 2032 1572 1372
  4. 2019 1622 1641
  5. 1852 1388 1538
  6. 368 1717 294
  7. 1425 585 812
  8. 691 1266 980

From the first website, http://www2.usfirst.org/2007comp/events/SDC/matchresults.html,

1st alliance is : 835 696 330
2nd allaince is : 1641 1622 2019
3rd alliance is : 968 1834 1540
6th alliance is : 812 1425 585
7th alliance is : 1388 1852 1538
8th alliance is : 1266 980 691

4th and 5th standing aren’t out yet.

alliance 1 wins QF1-1
alliance 7 wins QF2-1
alliance 3 wins QF3-1

interesting that 330 would pick 696… Were 330’s ramps not working properly, or did they choose to not use them? I know 696 has great lifts and I suppose they would be faster than ramps, just interesting alliances.

I think they are going to cruise…330 and 696. They can both score, and 696 has the best ramps there (AFAIK).

In QF4-3, 1425 spoiled alliance 2’s row of 7 but 968 lifted one at the last second to win

I think 1717’s ramps are better. They’re even bigger than 696’s.

They did have some issues deploying them in the semis at LA though.

I predict that the winner of SF2 wins the regional

In SF2-1 the refs ruled that a tube is a part of the robot so that 368 didn’t count as in the home zone. They were holding a tube which was outside of the home zone but the robot was in the home zone.

In SF1-1 and QF1-2 696 did not succesfully lift. Hopefully they get it worked out.

The Refs just reversed the ruling in SF2-2 giving 368’s alliance the win.

Congrats to 330 (Beachbots) and their alliance, 696 and 835 for winning.

330’s second regional win of the year, very cool.
