I’m so excited! 1923 will be there, and this will be my 10th (as per my count, my first was when I was 7…but, you know, I’m probably miscounting) consecutive year there. Can’t wait!
Snow is possible but not that likely. Cool - I suggest you NOT hang around the arena because you might get shot. Look up last years thread for whats cool to do in NJ. If not, I am sure someone else will post about things to do.
Oh, please. You can get knifed or beaten, too… (Ammo is soooo expensive…)
Seriously: Trenton is a less than average big city - kinda like any downtown in older parts of the country. It is seeing a resurgence and rebirth, of which the arena is a part, but parts of it are still not really safe after dark. There IS plenty to do, though, just not right there.
Snow: Maybe but probably not. March is a little late in the season for any kind of serious snow - but we’ve had snow that late a few times in the past decade.
I heard someone is organizing a team social this year on Friday?
Snow = very unlikely, unless there is a MASSIVE cold front haha. in jersey, we do things our own way But it will be cool… around what it is today in Jersey (45-50) perhaps a bit warmer - WHO KNOWS! Definately jacket weather lol.
Kool things to do in Jersey in March - man I’ve been here 18 years, and all March is for me is birthdays and FIRST Haha
ELGIN!!! You better be coming to check out the awesomeness
Thanks for the quick responses. Today it was “cold” in Ft. Lauderdale, 57 degrees, and kids are walking around school with blankets, heavy coats, mittens, and scarves…
I’ll have to warn the team about getting proper attire so they don’t get sick and make sure that we’re not staying anywhere near the arena. Too bad about the lack of snow though
The CT Regional still has some open spots if you want to see snow.
It’s almost guaranteed with the CT regional that a snowstorm happens that weekend. (We had a huge one last year on Friday evening/Saturday morning that dumped at least a foot or 2 on the state overnight.
I would have to say 5 out of the last 7 years at least it has snowed at least 6" that weekend.
And to top it all off, it’s a large regional with the proposed 2 field set-up.
Just something to consider if you REALLY want to see some snow this year while competing. Just make sure to get a hotel close to the venue.
Uh oh… I think if I don’t show up I’m gonna make someone mad. lol
I don’t want to do that, that’s for sure.
Don’t worry Ashley, lol I’m planning on coming in on Friday evening, or Saturday morning as of right now.
We’ll see how that works out.
If you are looking for a place to stay that is near the arena, there is a new hotel that just opened - Hilton Garden Inn on Route 130 South in Hamilton. It is about a 15 minute drive from the arena. There is a large shopping center directly across the highway with lots of restaurants and stores.
That’s right Elgin… the wrath of ASHLEY will be upon you and I will have to hunt you down MUWHAHAHAHA =] Just kidding!!! But no seriously - aint a party without the E-meister
Well to all of the nay-sayers about the snow, need I remind you all of two years ago when we got an ice/snow storm the day before the regional? You know the one where half the teams couldn’t get there until half way through the day and the crowd was sparse at best? Or how about LAST year when we got a foot and a half of snow in week 4 or 5 of the competitions (I forget which week, but it was the week of the Chesapeake/NYC regional) and teams had to walk 20 blocks in snow and slush to get from Penn Station to the Javitz Centre?
Trust me, if you’re from Florida (or anywhere south of the Mason-Dixon line) you will be cold, and I’m willing to bet there will be snow. (It snows right through April out here, trust me, it’s snowed every April since I’ve been born.)
Other than that, there’s not much to do around here so I’d suggest making plans ahead of time, and trust me THIS regional is one that you WON’T want to miss!
