Does anyone know where the Bayou Regional will be this year? It has been in the Morial Convention Center for the last 2 years but I had heard they were thinking about moving it to UNO Lakefront Arena to reduce the costs. I can’t seem to find the actual location on the FIRST website. Anyone know where the FIRST Mardi Gras party (A.K.A. Bayou Regional) will be this year?
Did you look at the Bayou Regional Website ?
http://www.bayouregional.org/Venue.html
That still has last year’s date.
Yeah but as far as I can tell the Bayou Regional website hasn’t been updated since last year. I also checked the events calendar at both the Convention Center and UNO Lakefront websites but their calendars don’t go out far enough to next March.
I still dunno where the Bayou Regional is this year???
So with the event less than a week away, who’s pumped for Bayou? 2815 will be making its FRC debut there, after a red-eye bus ride from Columbia. (It’s only 678 miles…) Just look for the garnet.
Only 678? Billfred, you are one crazy chicken.
456 is more than pumped! We are counting the hours till we head down on Wednesday and they just aren’t going by fast enough!
Where is everyone staying? There aren’t many hotel choices near the Lakefront Arena. 456 will be at the Marriott Residence Inn in Metairie.
See eveyone there!
I am pumped! I was just looking at the team list and making a few notes. Not a lot of data on the rooks, but team 2992 looks interesting.
What other rookies should I look out for?
I’m still surprised that we don’t see more teams making the trek down from up north. This regional is a blast every year.
Yeah this is one of the smallest regionals. I guess with the new Dallas regional, everyone wants to go there instead. Oh well.
Thanks for the mention!
Can’t wait to start fightin— I mean, competing with robots again. Its been a year. Gosh.

And now I realize how old this thread is.
Oh well, maybe the OP is still reading this and doesn’t know where it is.
Anyone know whether this event will be webcasted? Robotics.nasa.gov has “TBA” for week 4.
Yes, it is supposed to be. Go to BayouRegional.org and find the link. I’m on the road to New Orleans and don’t have the link handy.
I have to give a shout out to the rookies from SC (2815). They came to a pre-season scrimmage. Not a typical rookie.
Thanks. For those who are too busy to run over to… uh… another website:
It will be webcast on Friday and Saturday
http://gameday.mttkllr.com/
will probably work as well, but that’s less clear. I’m not sure how gameday works.

i was there today with my team it was great had a blast cant wait until tom.
It’s been a few weeks now since the Bayou Regional, and I’ve kind of gotten back to normal now, so I thought I would come on here and post my thank you’s and congratulations to the teams from Bayou
Except for a few exceptions, If a specific person helped my team, 2080, I will post your user id. If i couldn’t find it I will just put the team number, and hope you receive my gratitude.
First off I just want to say how much fun I had at the regional. Bayou was a blast to be at and I can’t wait to come back as a mentor for my team next year and watch the action.
The First thank you I want to give is to team 1421, Chaos. This is a big thank you because there is a lot to thank this team for. I would like to thank them for picking us to be their alliance partner. As an alliance 1421, 538, and 2080 went to the finals of the competition and that was a blast. Also I would like to thank MJ Miller. He has helped us so much dating back to our rookie year when he visited and was teaching me programming this year. But this year he again helped at the competition and is one of the main reasons we had an autonomous program running during the matches. Finally I would like to thank their lead mentor (Or who I think their lead mentor is), you have been friends with our lead mentor and helped her to get started and handle the workings of a FIRST team for the past 3 years. So I give a big Thank you to team 1421. Also I congratulate you on your win at Lone Star Regional.
Next is 538. 538 you were great alliance partners, fun to be around, and all around good people. I can’t wait till next year. Hopefully the teams will be able to work together again, it was a pleasure this year.
The next thank you is to team 624, Kryptonite. You were great pit neighbors, and helped out with the programming troubles we were having the first 2 days. Thank you so much for that, and a big Congratulations on your Regional win. You were a great alliance to lose to, I have the utmost respect for your team and alliance.
I would also like to congratulate team 1477 for for Winning the Bayou regional. Like I said with team 624 you were a great alliance, and you were a great alliance captain.
I would also like to thank team 456. You sent your mentor, I think Emelton (if I am wrong I am sorry), over to our pit area several times to help with our programming issues we were having. So thank you team 456 we always have a blast when you are at the regional.
Also I would like to thank 2815, we had a great couple of matches in the semifinals. I almost had the opportunity to talk to BillFred over the weekend, but unfortunetly I was busy working on the programming problems. I would have loved to talk to you even if just for a minute, but it was talk to you or possibly let down the team. You did however get to talk to one of our lead mentors. Hopefully I will get to talk to you next year
I would also like to give a big thank you to Scott Marshall, he was the lead inspector at Bayou Regional. But he also gave a lot of assistance to our team at the Regional. It seemed like after every match I was going up to him asking him for help. I was starting to feel like I was hogging him to our team. But, along with the regional, he has helped us over the past three years in starting the team, keeping the team going, and helping our programmer (Me ) tremendously over the past three years. I hope you will be as big a help to my predecessor as you were to me (Hope you don’t need to be though). I have so much respect and admiration for you it is not describable.
I would also like to give a thank you and congratulations to Mr. Curtis Craig. You also helped us tremendously over the past three years to get set up and sustainably it is indescribable. Congratulations on being named Volunteer of the Year award, you definitely deserve it.
I would also like to thank the volunteers of the Regional, and especially “bosses” there. You gave me the opportunity of my life by giving a speech of what FIRST means to me in front of the VIP’s, including Woodie Flowers. That was the highlight of my weekend. Thank You.
Finally I would like to thank the Judges. Thank you so much for believing in our team and awarding 2080 with the Judges award. We are very honored to receive it.
I would also like to Congratulate team 364, Fusion, for winning the Regional Chairman’s award. Listening to your accomplishments you definitely deserve this award for the second year in a row. It wouldn’t be Bayou Regional with out team Fusion being there.
Also Congratulations to team 2992 for winning the Highest Rookie seed award and the Rookie All-Star Award. We had a great couple of quarter-final matches. Hope to see you again next year.
I’m sorry If I forgot anybody, there were just so many people to thank and congratulate that made this Bayou Regional a blast for me. It was possibly my favorite regional over the past 3 years that I attended, even with the small size. Hopefully for next year we will be able to persuade more teams to head down to the Bayou and experience a little bit of Mardi Gras.
p.s sorry if I bored anybody with such a long post.
