Hey guys were less then a week away from one of my favorite regionals! I think that the Honolulu regional should get a cool acronym like HFR… but I’m not sure if the H should stand for Honolulu or Hawaii… I think we should vote on this! lol
ANYWAY! Im proud to announce that there may be a last minute team entry from 192 Gunn Robotics thanks to some convincing on The Hawaiian Kids behalf. They say that even if the robot doesn’t make it they’re gonna try to make it anyway so we may see some red mohawks running around.
I work for the company that is going to be doing the webcast encoding for the regional so stay tuned and I will keep you updated as to when the link is up… most likely it will be posted on the robotics.nasa. gov site but ill put a link here just to be safe…
True but then again SVR stands for Silicon Valley and not only Silicon Valley teams takes place… and I’ve wondered why they called it SVR if it takes place as SJSU… is it because its close to Silicon Valley or is San Jose considered to be part of Silicon Valley?
On behalf of the Waipahu team we extend a warm aloha to the teams joining us in paradise! Especially Gunn robotics! Its unfortunate that we can’t really afford traveling to multiple regionals, but it is great to have Gunn come out and have some fun with us!
Well I guess its official now.
GUNN 192 is coming. They got their robot back from SVR on Friday and shipped it out the same day to Hawaii.
That’s 192 and 359 at the same event next to each other for 3 regionals now. Its like Dave Lavery of '08. We saw him at 4 events last season by chance, and he even passed by our school.
That was awesome. Our team, 1859, was actually first on the points board for a while, since we tied our first match and won the next three… but then we lost another three and we dropped.
Ended up twelfth in standings, and went to the finals for the first time in our team’s history as an alliance captain, I believe. We got knocked out first round thanks to 192 and 359’s team, though.
The last finals matches had me on the edge of my seat. I was sitting on the blue alliance’s side, and I saw the guy throw the super cell that lost them the match. It was epic.
Dancing to YMCA between the matches was also epic.
that would actually be the semifinals because it happened to Gunn and us.
We all tried to run away from the supercell, not knowing they had one on the other side.
The same HP from 2090 that torched us and 368 in our last qualification match did the same thing to 192 and us in the eliminations.
