2009 traverse city district

No tread on it so I’ll start it…

Team 2604 will be there
Who’s coming?

857 will be there, wishing we had a practice day…

I’m bringing this thread back to life, after being disappointed that there wasn’t one higher up.

A practice day would be amazing, we want to test our drivers with more than two robots on the field. And 120 balls helps too

Apparently you can get on the field Thursday night during the time you can get into the pits to get inspected and what not… So maybe we can get some real practice in…

From the TC agenda at http://www.firstinmichigan.org/staticpages/index.php?page=2009_traverse_city_agenda

Thursday, February 26

11:00 A.M. – 6:00 P.M. Field and pit set up

6:00 P.M - 10:00 P.M. Team load in, open pits, inspection and practice

Friday, February 27

8:30 A.M. Pits and machine shop open

8:30 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. Inspection and practice

1918 is bagged and ready.

Thursday evening practice would be great - is that for real? That would be worth leaving home a bit earlier for. We were just planning to get the pit set up get the robot inspected so we could take best advantage of the Friday am practice.

Question - Does any time out of the bag on Thursday evening count against our 8 hour practice window? If so, then we need to make sure to leave some time on our “clock”.

I hope everything goes well in TC - it is a new venue, new game, new robot control system, new field control system, many new people in charge. We all need to do whatever we can to help make it a great success.

See you there!

Thanks to Pat Major for bringing the field, and thanks to all the people in TC who are hosting us.

I will be sure to tell my mentors about this newfound practice time. Our drivers didn’t get much practice time as is, so this would be great time for them to get a better feel for the robot.

And I sure hope it doesn’t count towards our “Bag Time”. We technically are at the event so I imagine they wouldn’t count it because they would have to count Friday morning practice also. But who knows…

Anyone feel like emailing FIM?

Does anyone know if any teams are planning on webcasting?

We are down for some true Michigan lunacy! ready…set…GO!

They are showing the animation!!! After that comes the first match  Wish Team 201 good luck!

Team 85 would like to thank team 2645 and team 247 for being great alliance partners throughout the finals. It was a pleasure to be a part of such an awesome alliance.

Also, a big congratulations to teams 1918, 904, and 2188 for being regional finalists. It was great to compete against three spectacular opponents. The finals were three of the closest matches I have ever seen.

Thank YOU! Yeah the finals were exciting, especially with the tie and all.

Yes the finals were three of the closest matches I’ve seen too! It was a great pleasure to compete against 2645, 85 and 247 this afternoon.

I need to thank 1918 and 2188 for helping us get to the finals. What an experience!

Well that was a lot of fun  I can’t wait for Detroit!

We would also like to thank Team 123 and Team 2612 for being amazing alliance partners. Without you guys we would have never had made it that far. I can’t wait to see 2612 at Detroit with us.

Congratulations to all the teams that participated, everyone did a fantastic job this weekend!

If anyone was interested in viewing Team 201’s award winning website you can view it at http://feds201.net

Team 2771 wishes to thank the TC District event organizers and volunteers. We thoroughly enjoyed our first ever FIRST competition and are grateful to the many, many teams offering support and encouragement.

Thanks to our friends at Creston, Team 904, for the programming help and the support over the last several weeks. Thanks to 85 for scoring a boatload of points against us. You’ve got an amazing robot, and a great team there BOB.

Team 703, the Phoenix, chose us an alliance partner, and taught us a lot about scouting and game strategy. We are blown away by your intense desire to compete while being gracious and joyful in the process. Thank you 703!

Go 49!

What a great event, and congratulations to the District Finalists and Champions, and our hats are off to TC District and FIRST Michigan.

Team 1918 had a great time at TC. We liked the venue, the host city, and we think Lunacy rocks!

Congratulations to 2645, 85, and 247 on a great victory. You were a great alliance.

Thanks to 904 for picking us. You have been a brother to our team since our rookie season. It was only fitting that our first experience in the elimination rounds was with you. We also were honored to be on the field with 2188.

It was soooo close! Three balls in the right place at the right time could have made the difference.

We hope to see everybody at Lansing or the WMR (WMD?).

TC was a new venue, new game, new robot controller, new field control system, new competition schedule, new group of volunteers, etc. I think everybody did a fantastic job, and I hope we get to come back next year. Thanks to all.

Woot! Big congrats to team 247 Da Bears. MORT still loves you guys. Good luck at your next competition.

Traverse City was great. We would like to thank team 3115 for asking us to be partners in the finals. The local TV news cast showed a great news broad cast for that event.

It is wonderful how they showed so much of our robot in the cast(We maybe a little bias).

As 1 of the many volunteers ( I was the Pit Admin) I want to thank all of the teams for everything. I had so much fun with all of you! This was a wonderful event esp. for it being the first time. Congrats to BOB and their winning alliance. Every team there did a great job and all should be proud of how well they did and conducted themselves.

Thanks for all the t shirts, hats, buttons, key rings, bubbles, crayons, coloring books and crossword puzzles. Craig and Carol the 2 of you made my job much easier. Tim and Jeremy I had a ton to fun with both of you! I hope to see several of you at Kettering!! Best of luck to everybody!

Huge thanks to all the people who volunteered and worked their butts off to make this regional happen. You were great.
But honestly, FIRST needs more than a high school gymnasium. Compare your experience at Traverse City to, say, Milwaukee if you have been their. The pits were undersized and overcrowded, the practice field had no trailer, the sound system was three feet from the red alliance wall, and the whole thing had the feel of a Lego League competition. FIRST in Michigan forced too many competitions into too small of an area, and low quality events are the result. In my opinion, someone needs to take a hard look at the FiM system next year.
