So Im super excited coming off of a win in Lansing to see how competition goes. Team 1918 with the super high scoring otis bot, 904 the finalists from Traverse City, and 85 the Traverse City winners. This is bound to be an amazing event and hopefully competition is as good as expected at GVSU.
Congratulations on the win in Lansing 858. Your strong & nimble chassis made you a great alliance partner.
We look forward to seeing you and 904 & 2188 & 85 & 141 & 2645 & 2405 &2075 (with their battery tester) all the rest there.
Otis is recovering from his Lansing battle scars. His battery supply has been load tested & purged of any doorstops, paperweights, and boat anchors that bear a superficial resemblance to MK batteries.
West Michigan has always been one of the highest scoring events in the country - regardless of the game - and this year should be no different. All the teams will have field experience and will be hungry for a slot at State or a trophy.
GVSU is always a gracious host.
Thanks in advance to all the volunteers who make it possible.
This is going to be an intense district with tons of eliminations experience this year, I can see it being the deepest Michigan district. Who did the stats sheet on the Lansing regional with all of the teams and their success this year, we need to get one of those for West Michigan.
And 2075 is doing a little retooling to make a run for the finals this week. Cant wait for the competition, im so eager.
Team 1504 is going to be attending for our 3rd event. We are looking to make a big improvement over last weekend. It will be great to compete at one of the best venues and events in FIRST.
Also, if anyone would like to trade for a 1504 shirt pm me, i have 2-3 mediums for trade.
Team 107 will be there ,and for the first time be representing GVSU ( thanks GVSU) and we are planning on ROCKIN THE HOUSE!!! .Good luck to all the teams .

1918 had a great time at WMD. Thanks again to 216 for picking us and 1254 for the great effort. You guys were awesome. Great job 503, 85, and 2188. Thanks also to GVSU, all the folks who put this together, the volunteers that made it hum, the judges, and all the teams - especially 904. This is our first victory and we will never forget all your kind words of encouragement. FIRST is a wonderful community and we are honored to be involved in it.
We are amazed at how the level of competition has increased over the course of the season. West Michigan has always been one of the best competitions in the country and this was no exception. It was our third event, so we had seen most of these teams before. Alliance strategy came into play so much more than at the beginning of the season. Defense tactics have gotten so much tougher and targets are a lot harder to come by.
We hardly recognized some of the robots because they had been modified and improved so much. “Continuous Improvement” is another important concept in the “real world” that these kids learn in FIRST. The new MI format really gives us all a chance to develop our machines and adapt our tactics and strategy. It would be interesting to gage how the Michigan teams do in Atlanta - to see if the increased playing time makes a measurable difference.
We look forward to State. Hope to see you all next week!
