Team 2410 is excited for the up coming regional and wishes everyone a great build season.

We are happy to annouce that this year we will be hosting “Build KC”, a Harvesters food drive. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Harvesters, this organization collects and distributes food to those in need in the Kansas City area. We wish to see everyone participate, it is as easy as bringing a can of non-perishable food. More information will be posted in the near future.

Let’s get kick this competition off with a loud RUMBLE!

UPDATE: As promised, more information regarding the food drive :slight_smile:

We are excited to announce that our robotics team, the Blue Valley CAPS Metal Mustang Robotics, is hosting Build KC, a food collection event during the FIRST Greater Kansas City Regional from March 1-3, 2012 at Hale Arena. All proceeds from the event will go to Harvesters food pantry of Kansas City. Non-perishable food items and monetary donations may be accepted. The following is a list of the most-needed items at Harvesters: canned vegetables; canned fruit; boxed meals - (Hamburger Helper, Pasta Roni); canned meat/tuna; peanut butter; canned soup; cereal – hot and cold. The drop-off area for the items will be located at team 2410’s pit. We hope to have your support in this event that will help those in need in the Kansas City area.

During the coming week our team will do its best to contact every team to attend this regional. Be sure to let everyone know about this food drive! Tell your family and friends, teammates, and even neighboring FIRST teams that will be in attendance. Every can counts! Attached is our flyer for this food drive. 25 more days, I can’t wait to see everyone there.

I hate to do thread bumping, but I think this one is justified for a good cause. With Greater Kansas City Regional being soon, we at 2410 would like to remind teams attending of our Build KC food drive and to bring canned goods to the Regional.

I love it when teams support each other’s efforts to strengthen the community. Our team is planning to help.

One question. If a ton of food shows up at your pit, where is the robot going to go? :eek:

Although this is late, we would like to announce that Build KC was a success! With food alone, the team raised about 2 CalTran weights worth of food which translates to about 188lbs of food. With the monatery donations added to the collected food drum roll please

2410 meals were donated to Harvesters!

Once again we thank everyone for their effort and their kindness to raise food for the Greater Kansas City area.
