With Greater Kansas City regional under a month away, I figured it was time to get this one started. How are the teams attending coming along in their season? Any body a little frightened that we’re going to a week one competition? On the bright side, we’re all going to be on relatively equal footing for actual competition experience. But then again, so are the rules (And veterans all know how much that can make or break a match!)
Anyways, hope the teams attending are coming along swimmingly and the rest of your season goes according to plan!
Hello there! Team 1775 Tigerbytes will be joining the Greater Kansas City Regional at Hale. We’re still working out some kinks in the shooter but our robot looks like it’s gonna be a good one this year. Our drivers are practicing a lot to refine their driving and it’s looking good on their part. We can successfully get on the bridge (however tipping is another story that we’re still working on) and push another robot to equilibrium.
Our build team has doubled since last year, also! Our mentor team has grown exponentially since last year, growing from 4 mentors to 9 with the help of Honeywell and Hallmark.
We’re looking forward to see you there, The Metal Mustangs! And please feel free to ask any questions about our team!

1939 - The Kuhnigits are excited to be attending Kansas City again this year. Competition is getting really tough, and that makes us want to work harder. That said, we have gone through a lot of big transitions this year and we are trying to reach some pretty ambitious goals. So, we’ll just have to see how everything goes.
We can’t wait to see all of you at the KC Regional. It promises to be awesome as usual. Don’t worry, we won’t forget the killer bunny. Good luck to all the other teams!
Team 2949 PWNAGE from Batavia, IL will be there! We’re working harder then ever this year. Our team has grown in size to almost 20 students and we have more mentors then ever! We have also acquired new sponsors/partnerships with NASA, 4H and JC Penney. We can’t wait to come to the KC Regional for the first time. Our robot will be revealed right before the regional. Here we come week 1!
Team 2996 Cougars Gone Wired is doing great as well, especially with our giant programming team this year! ^.^
We’ll be there at Kansas city, so see y’all there!
Only 11 more days until shipment (or in our case bag and tag). Hope everyone has been having a great build season so far. Just wanted to remind everyone to bring cans to the regional. This year team 2410 is hosting Build KC, a harvesters food drive. Please encourage each of your teammates to bring a can with them to the regional.
Make sure on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning to swing by the JFLL and FLL area and see what the kids did this year! I look forward to seeing you guys there.
Team 1987, The Broncobots, is competing at KC for the first time this year. After volunteering there for 4 years, we’re very excited to compete with all our local teams. Under new policy, new leadership, and a new roof, we’re eager to see how we’ll perform at KC. We’ll see you there!
I’d say we’re pretty excited. We have an entire new spirit section of our team who’re looking for an award. Plenty of new tricks for us to use with our robot.
The KCFirst website (http://www.kcfirst.org/FRC-High_School.html) has a link to MOREnet (http://www.more.net/first-robotics) for the webcast. Even though the MOREnet page hasn’t been updated for the 2012 broadcast, I assume they are on board again. They always have an excellent feed, and they archive the matches on their site as they broadcast so people around the country can view the matches they are most interested in even if they can’t catch it live. They don’t always broadcast Thursday. Not sure what the plan is this year regarding that.
Being a week one regional there should be a few eyeballs from around the country curious to see how the game will be played. Might even have a few just tuning in to see 16 since they haven’t posted a reveal video yet. Should be a good show.
Two of those curious eyeballs will be mine. One of the robots I am very curious to see up close is 1986.
This will be my first trip the Greater Kansas City Regional. I’m looking forward to seeing people and robots from several teams competing there, although my current team (3620, St. Joseph, Michigan) will not be one of them. Some of my favorites are 1985, 1208, 1094, 525, 16, and of course my all-time favorite 931.
Looking for a great regional. The regional has 64 teams from 9 different states. The seating has been maximized for this year, the pits have been rearranged enabling better interaction between teams yet keeping 20’ Isles for easy traffic flow. Along with FIRST supplied 1/2 practice field we have a full practice field being supplied by a local alliance of teams. We have 6 corporate sponsors along with 12 College and Universities all displaying in the arena area this year. The regional planning committee welcomes all those in attendance and if you have any comments please look for a RPC member in a the red shirts.
…wow. Sounds like this year is going to be the best year of KC yet. A full practice field, a new college row, and some interesting teams. This should be a week one event never to be forgotten.
