2013 Hawaii Regional

Hey! It’s next week. Are we psyched?!?! Check in if you’re going. Where are teams staying? We’re not at the Ala Moana this year, we’re at another hotel but I can’t remember which one.

Anyway, can’t wait to see everyone again.

Yup, It’s finally here! Very excited about the regional. Week 6 took forever…

Good teams coming out as always!
359 with Boilermaker Quality Award and Regional Winners (1st seed) / Utah Entrepreneurship Award, Deans list finalist (William Blaser) and Regional Winners (1st seed)
1622 with San Diego Safety Award, WFFA, EI Award, Deans List Finalist (Nicole Gonzales) / Inland Empire Safety Award
3880 with LA EI Award / Inland Empire Creativity Award, and Regional Chairman’s Award
2439 and 2443 in the eliminations at the LA Regional
2438 in the eliminations at Lone Star

It’s gonna be a fun regional!

Will there be a webcast anywhere? I don’t see it listed on the NASA-TV site. Our peeps want to watch at home!

OK, so we weren’t a high scoring regional, but I bet we were the only one with a Miss USA contestant as an emcee! The current Miss Hawaii USA and Team 359 alumnus Brianna Acosta (CD handle “breeahnuh”) put some sparkle in our matches. With her stylish blue sweats she rallied the winning blue alliance to an upset victory over her alma mater in the finals!

It was quite painful to watch our partners at the very beginning of 4 straight matches dead in the water.
From what I understand, they still dont know what happened.

In hindsight, we would have never predicted such an unfortunate event, and have no regrets on our selection of partners on in our alliance.

Congratulations to everyone that participated this past weekend!
On a personal note, our students worked hard this year to build a great robot that we are proud of, and hope to continue to be successful with the other great teams around the world at Championships.

Totally looking forward to both the VEX and FRC World tournaments.

Brianna is supposed to be coming with our team to FRC Worlds and she better be wearing RED for sure!

Also, just cuz it’s all over…

WHOO! ONLY 20-pt CLIMB IN ALL OF HAWAII! XD

Yeah, I believe it was match 57, we went up in the air, crowd went nuts :3 Matches were stopped for like 5 minutes because people wanted to take picture  Glad it almost worked, too bad we couldn’t get all the way to 30 like we had hoped.
