I *might *be manufacturing some corner gussets for the pyramids, in both the official and team versions. I want to gauge the interest if other teams would be interested in purchasing these. Thanks.
price? What cutting method?
Wood “team” version would be baltic birch cut on CNC router - $30+ shipping for the set of 16
Steel ones would be the official welded version, cut on laser, waterjet, or plasma (price and mfg method TBD).
Is that 30 for steel or for wood. We want steel.
$30 for wood. Steel, not sure quite yet, I’ll let you know. Guessing the price would be about the same.
We want steel versions as well. Any one do a rough cost/BOM for a full official pyramid?
We’ll take a set of steel.
Glad to hear someone stepping up to offer this, it’s a great thing to mass produce, but a pain to do in a small run.
If they can be ready inside of three weeks Team 296 would take a set, maybe two (we hold a scrimmage).
Absolutely want a steel set!
I’d be up for a set of steel to build one half of the pyramid
Probably interested in a steel set, and possibly two, as we are working to do a week 0 scrimmage. Need to confirm with Mechanicals.
Scott.
Definitely interested in pricing, considering a “half pyramid”, one side, steel (6-8 parts total)
I believe the gentleman who is working on this for us mentioned something about “Not going to exceed $400 max.” I was a bit shocked, but he did the research, not me, so I can only tell you what I heard.
My ballpark estimate for pipe alone was about 175 for the team model. It is gonna be one heavy and expensive field element.
We’d probably buy a set.
3481 will buy at least ONE but maybe TWO of the STEEL corners.
Please contact me when you’re ready for orders… THANKS!

We have about $200 into just the pipe and tubing for the official version, minus the DOM spec. We bought standard welded seam tubing, since DOM was WAY more expensive, and not readily available.
To clarify, we will be producing the steel corner gusset plates only, not full welded corners. It’s likely that the plates will cost in the neighborhood of $3 each. They might be 3/16 rather than 1/4 thick. Still working on details with our manufacturer. Should have it tomorrow.
We can produce the plywood gussets if there is sufficient interest, but I imagine most teams can fabricate their own.
Making them out of 3/16" is far less attractive to us.
Team 991 will definitely buy a set
Gussets will be lasercut from 1/4" plate and cost $80 shipped for the set of 16. in the US, to teams who have already posted here or talked to me. They will ship on Saturday 1/12 if payment is received. You can PM me.
