I made the thread for Orlando, since we registered for South Florida, I will make this one as well
Really excited about the new location and increased capacity for the event only 10 minutes south of where it was last year.
Though I am sad that some of the Florida teams have chosen elsewhere for their second regional (79, 801, and 1592) I am glad that it has gained some international appeal (3472 from Mexico), and more out of state teams ( 832 from Georgia, 1687 From Massachusetts, 141 from Michigan, 4083 from South Carolina and 384 from Virginia).
As the event draws nearer I am sure that more information will be coming but here is to a great second year competition.
I would now also like to welcome 4707 from the Dominican Republic, and 4262 from Mexico, as well as 4516 from Georgia, 988 from Nevada, 271 from New York, and 415 from South Carolina.
I am really happy about all these new teams coming to compete at the regional after last year we only had 4 teams not from Florida
We would love to have you it looks like it is going to be a competition for every award as 10 of the award winners from last year are not competing at the event this year (Including the teams that won Chairman’s, Woodie Flowers, one of the Deans List, and two of the winners).
Also come on you competed at Peachtree for the last two years, change it up man
I liked it as well but you have to admit, because of the size of the burrow our queuing area was tight (especially on blue). The new location has an initial capacity greater than our final capacity at FAU. and it isn’t much further away
I guess I liked the FAU location because my teams warehouse was just 10 minutes away and if we forgot something or needed to do something we could make a quick run to it.
This just in–Los Pollos Locos just (within the past two hours) claimed the last open spot on the list to get in the game. We look forward to taking our talents to South Beach. (30 miles away? Close enough!)
You have any questions on where to stay or whats good to do around in town, you know who to ask. Welcome to the SoFlo Regional, we will be honored to have you guys making the trip.
It looks like I’ve been able to schedule a business trip that brings me to town that week so I can volunteer all day Thursday as a robot inspector. I’m sure I’ll have to reject a few teams just on GP (general principles, not gracious professionalism) - you know who you are.
Team 2383, the Ninjineers, is excited to be attending the South Florida Regional for the 2nd year in a row! And we’re very excited about the new location, being much closer to us!
Keep an eye out for us in the stands as we hope to keep our Spirit Award streak alive, and keep an eye out for our robot as we hope to win a little bit more than that this year.
