Michael,

John,

I just gave Justin some crate dimensions and other info. I’m planning all of this and our team doesnt know about it…yet.

When 2438 went to the Houston regional back in March, they had nothing but admiration and good things to say about all of the TX teams that attended.

Additional Details/Answers to likely questions:

  • Any locals interested in taking part in the TRR Planning Committee please send an email to [email protected]. I plan to start having meetings following Championships.
  • The schedule is not finalized yet, but will be made public as soon as it is ready.
  • We plan to again host a variety of workshops, presentations, and meetings! Stay tuned for details later this summer.
  • There will likely be a variety of additional activities for teams, including but not limited to team social, fundraising opportunities, etc.
  • We plan to once again hold a Mentors Tournament and a Robot Skills Challenge, along with some other possible challenges (Human Players, etc). Stay tuned for sign ups to come out later this summer.
  • Like past TRRs and many other Off-Season Events, we do not plan to have robots inspected at TRR 2013. However, we expect teams to follow the 2013 Game Rules and abide by the values of Gracious Professional.
  • The committee will work with key volunteers and consider the decisions of other Off-Seasons to determine if we will instate any changes to the game play rules. Any rules changed will be done so in favor of the teams. We will make announcements of any rule changes as soon as possible.
  • We plan to give out a variety of awards again this year, many peer judged. The full list is still to be determined.
  • The ausTIN CANs will be hosting their Annual Tin Can Food Drive. The team who contributes the most cans will receive an award.
  • Additional information can be found and will be posted at www.austincans.org/robot-roundup
  • Please email questions to [email protected]

Hawaii’s gonna be a district in the Texas system now I guess right?

Jess… how you handling second entries for teams with practice bots?

Same as last year?

THANKS!

–Michael

Hi Michael! Second robot entries for teams will open up after the end of “Regular Registration” on June 28th if slots are still available (Registration Fee: $250). We’re making sure to give as many teams as possible the opportunity to play at TRR before opening it up to 2nd entries. Let me know if you have any additional questions!

You Know 418 will be there

Team 4063, TRikzR4kiDz just filled out the registration form and will me making the drive up from Del Rio.

Texas Torque will have a practice robot available for any pre-rookie team that wants to participate in Texas Robot Round-Up. It may not be as full-featured as the competition robot but it will definitely be more than just a drive chassis like last year. If slots open up because less than 40 teams sign-up, we would also be interested in giving a second drive team some time “on the sticks.”

Jess,
we emailed AM about the transporting of robot from IRI to Austin, and are requesting FedEx shipping quotes from Hawaii to IRI and Austin to Hawaii.
We are also hopeful that either 148 or 118 may be able to help us just in case.
keeping fingers crossed

Once we get that info confirmed, we will sign up.
Airfares are running about $1050/person at the moment and hoping it doesnt get any higher.

-Glenn

Still working out the details for travel to IRI but I will let you know as soon as we know!

I’ll have to ask our main teacher/mentor if we’re gonna be able to go, it’d be awesome seeing all of you again!

I previously neglected to mention that we are reserving two additional slots (for a total of 42 teams) for pre-rookie teams. These spaces might eventually be made available if they are not filled by pre-rookies. We have one pre-rookie forming in Austin this summer. Please let me know if you know of any potentially interested pre-rookie teams!

Glenn,

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help! We’re presently at ~3/4 capacity after a flood of teams registered over the past 24 hours. Most of those teams are first time TRR competitors. We don’t want to miss out on you guys coming down to TRR!

~Jess

Jess,
I’ll probably sign up tomorrow when I get a chance, prior to any confirmed arrangements.

-Glenn
