I’m really looking forward to the first ever PNW District event. I have high hopes for the district model, and I think it’ll really elevate the level of play here in the Pacific Northwest. It might be a bit strange not seeing all the usual suspects there with us, but still a number of great teams will be attending. Here’s the team list, if people wanted to post pictures, videos or descriptions of the robots attending to help with a bit of pre-event scouting, that would be great. If you guys want to talk scouting, strategy, game play, tournament rules, the district system or anything related to the Auburn Mountainview District, feel free.
I think, but am not 100% certain that the web cast colors will follow the field colors. That means that the western WA events (Auburn Mountainview, Glacier Peak, Mount Vernon, Shorewood, Auburn HS) should all be on the blue stream, while the OR and eastern WA events will be on the “red” stream. That is certainly subject to change.
any link to archived footage from this would be appreciated… I am thrilled someone captured this moment (at the end of the video) on youtube: http://youtu.be/-JbVFnW0VAQ
heck of an assist!
I wanted to thank all of the volunteers and the workers that put together the new District fields and equipment. I thought that this event was incredible.
When we went to Districts many of us thought that it would somehow be a let down for teams used to playing under the “big lights” of the expensive Regional Format.
The real concern was with the students and whether they would have the same kind of experience in districts as regionals.
I can say, after this event, that the teams had a great time and I bet few even noticed any differences at all in the format. The venue was wonderful, the host team (2907) could not have been more helpful and courteous, the field was top notch, the volunteers (all from the district) worked the event to perfection.
I don’t know how it really could have been any better and for a first attempt at a district competition it was simply amazing!!
I got to work as a judge at this event which allowed me to observe it better than most events (where I have had a team to coach).
The students that attended this event were inspired just as much as they would have been at any normal Regional AND they get to do it twice!!!
What a way for the PNW district system to get started!!
My hat is off to Kevin and the ENTIRE District group for providing an absolutely FIRST RATE District competition from beginning to end
