We are pleased to announce an expanded Arkansas off-season event for 2014. The Ozark Mountain Brawl will be held in Bud Walton Arena on the campus of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville July 25-26.
Match play will begin on Friday evening. Detailed schedule to come later.
Cost is only $100 payable to Arkansas FIRST. PM me for payment information or if you need an invoice.
The 2014 Ozark Mountain Brawl is hosted by FRC 3612, GearHogs, and FRC 16, Bomb Squad, and sponsored by the University of Arkansas, Ozark STEM Foundation and Arkansas FIRST.
Bud Walton Arena is very large, of course, but I don’t really have a hard number. I expect we will have plenty of room for whomever wants to come. I have heard 60, but haven’t reviewed the venue yet.
Hi Meredith,
as mentioned earlier, Team 359 is interested in attending.
Once we hear back from our travel agency and get our school paperwork in order, we can let you folks know.
Right now, I think its a 80% chance we will attend back to back events doing IRI and Ozark, if approved by the selection committee.
And by the way, we did research Silver Dollar City. Looks good!
** Can you provide shipping logistic info as well. I believe I can get a FedEx sponsorship to ship our robot to IRI, to you folks, and then back home to Hawaii. Are we able to ship directly to the University? or if we need help with transporting our robot crate from IRI to Ozark, is that possible?
I will ask the U of A folks about the robot shipping there. Shouldn’t be a problem. We might be able to make room in the Bomb Squad trailer for your robot, but not the crate. So shipping is likely the best option. Can they get it there in less than a week?
You can register for the event and explore the low-cost housing and dining options available to teams. Big thanks to the University of Arkansas for organizing this and Ozark STEM Foundation for sponsoring the event.
If you have already let me know your team is attending and have received an invoice, you do not have to register on the website. But you will need to go through that portal if you plan to take advantage of the housing/ dining opportunities.
Definitely do not miss Silver Dollar City if you have time and money. There is a lot to see and do. Many amusement rides and lots of crafts to see. Food is great and people are kind. It may be crowded, but it is still fun.
Team 1730 is looking forward to coming. We just aren’t sure how many, yet.
What is a 16/359 day? I am not sure who is going and what they want to do. I thoroughly enjoy going several times a year. I normally have a season pass, but haven’t got one this year. Let us know what the plans are.
It would be nice for one more team then to put it at 21 but the Mountain Brawl should still be a blast. I know we are looking forward to heading down tomorrow for the event. Hope you all and 359 have a blast at SDC.
