Should be a great event with teams representing Alberta, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming…looking forward to meeting and competing with you all.
Agreed! We are very excited to come to the Utah Regional for the first time.
Excited for 159 to finally be attending a second regional. See you there.
We can’t wait to compete with so many great teams! Good luck to all the teams attending
1619 is also making our first trip to Utah and are excited to get into action. We’ll see everyone in a few days!
Good Luck to everyone.
Team 3669 checking in, anybody know of a stream for Utah? Lots of people back in California hoping to watch it.
We’ve been watching for news on a webcast as well and the best we’ve found is the following:
http://www.utfrc.utah.edu/live
Hopefully, this is it!
Yep, 3245’s gonna be at Utah this year. Look forward to meeting and learning from all the teams there. It’s going to be great!
I’m going to be visiting the Utah regional for the first time from the AZ regionals! I was wondering if there are any community teams that my cousin can join here?
Team 3334 here: We’ve traditionally only competed at one regional, and this is our one regional. I’m excited to compete against the high-level competitors coming to Salt Lake City this year.
You can also find the stream on http://www.justin.tv/utah_frc or locally in Salt Lake City, channel 6.
There are alot of good robots here. I’m looking forward to watching qualifications tomorrow!
we just lost all internet at the salt Lake city facility. stream is down until further notice…
Internet is back at the facility. Stream is now back up
Justin.tv account has been banned for unknown reasons. Working on this right now and will update as more info becomes available
I’ve heard of this happening because the music played at the venue violates copyrights or something like that. You may have to mute the stream. Or it could be something completely different
Shout-out to Team 2993: Intech Megabots! Their “Mega Helpers” were outstanding in helping out many teams.
Or just switch the stream to U-stream.tv instead of justin.tv
Scott,
Ask the AV guys to give you the audio feed of the announcers and field only. It will get around the music issue if that is it.
Coach
We’re planning to stream on a ustream channel now.
Congratulations to the winning alliance of 2122, 2996, and 3191. We were extremely happy to see 2996 earn a well deserved Chairman’s award. We have a notable history with the Cougars and Tators, so we were pleased to see them in their success.
Thank you to all of the volunteers for the time you dedicated to help run this event. 399 was excited to attend this event for the third time in the last four years.
Thank you to the head ref and the reffing crew. As I watched the tension build up in elimination rounds, I saw continued patience and composure as they discussed and dealt with the issues. During QF 1-2, we were hit with a field fault issue. After a long discussion among refs and both alliances, the decision was to contact a higher-up. Thank you to the opposing alliance for respecting the call that was made, as we would have if it had gone in the other direction.
During the replay of QF 1-2, it was incredibly upsetting to see the damaged state that 1339’s robot was left in. Though we couldn’t tell which collision caused the damage, I, along with our manufacturing lead, were immediately in their pit with our tools and hardware to see what could be done to get them into the next match. One of their members better assessed the damages and said it would take much more time to fix it than was available. It was tough to see the frustration on the students’ faces as they had to make the decision to call in a back up. I hope the best for 1339 as they head to Colorado.
Technical fouls caused the loss of 3 of our matches during the elimination rounds. While frustrating, we understand that it is simply a product of this game and its many detailed rules. Our loss in the semi-finals was tough to deal with, as we don’t have a complete comprehension on what happened or the reasoning behind it.
We were told that our third alliance partner trapped the opposing alliance’s ball(a form of possession). After careful review of the match video, we could still not perfectly pinpoint the moment the infraction occurred.
Here is the video: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/dfjmny25g3gqiqo/oRxoj1MWhm#lh:null-final-7.mp4
We believe the call was made at 2:04, though we can clearly see the ref actively pointing our partner towards the end of the match. We understand we couldn’t show the refs any videos, so we held back, and moved on.
Thank you to our alliance partners 1619 and 2594. You were fantastic to associate with, and all kept gracious and professional as we went fell into tough times. It was a pleasure meeting you all.
Again, thank you to all of the volunteers for helping make this event happen.
Now, we prepare for Vegas.
