Montreal was an amazing event. We were thrilled to play with our friends 2590 and 5528 in the playoffs.
I’ve never seen final matches so close and exciting. The third alliance was very strong as well, and they deserved to win too.
We had to break through our laser-cut frame with a hammer between F2 and F3, directly on the field, with no timeouts. A swerve module was stuck in neutral, so we had to break a drill bit inside the shaft to make it work for that last match. Thanks to our coach Nathan for his quick reaction, we managed to make it on time.
I was literally screaming the last 30 seconds , when i had to pickup a RC stuck behind tons of litter, and then make that last stack of 6 and put it down in the last second.
This is a regional i’ll never forget… Congrats to every team there, you were all awesome.
We’ve got 95% (missing probably less than 6 qual/elim matches) of the matches recorded full field in 720p. It was our first time doing video scouting and it worked quite well with our tripod setup; our video scouter was a beast. We just got home a few hours ago so well be posting them on YouTube on Tuesday when we debrief from the event. When they are up I’ll post again here.
I’ll have to get back to you on that one. Would you be able to credit us as a source and have a link to our team’s match video channel? Also we do this it will probably have to wait after the Finger Lakes Regional because we are doing back to back regionals and need to prep.
The quality of rookie teams this year at the Festival was incredible:
5528 Ultime: Rookie All Star; Member of No1 and Winning Alliance; Qualified for CMP
5443 Les PATenteux : Rookie Inspiration Award; Member of No3 and Finalist Alliance
5444 VObotik : Team Spirit Award; No8 Alliance Captain
5553 Robo’Lyon : Entrepreneurship Award
5618 PLS : Highest Rookie Seed Award; No4 Alliance Captain
5440 Les Chevaliers : Member of No6 Alliance
Exceptional models for all teams!
Is this a first: two rookie teams as alliance captains at a regional???
Currently we are working on posting the match videos from Montreal but we hit a few snags. They will get posted after Finger Lakes as well as the Finger Lakes match videos.
On behalf of 1511 Rolling Thunder, I want to thank all of the volunteers and judges for making this event possible. The international experience was incredible and the venue was spectacular! The production value of this regional outclasses all others I have personally attended and it is not even close. All of the teams were quite welcoming and it truly was a great opportunity to play with some of Canada’s best up and coming teams including 3996, 3117, 4947 and 3386. Two of Canada’s finest teams, 3360 and 3990 had strong showing at this event and they are teams to look out for at champs. Congrats to 2590, who had a longer trip up to Montreal than us, for winning the event. Again, they are a team to look out for at champs. I also want to give a big shout out to 4947 Fenix for being an awesome alliance captain. Also a shout out to 3550 for inspiring us…
Personally, this was the first time I had visited Canada and it was certainly worth the trip.
For anyone who wants to watch match footage from the Montreal Regional the end of qual matches and elims matches have been posted on 1511’s Match Video Channel. A spreadsheet of the matches and the corresponding URLs can be found here.
I plan on getting the rest of the Montreal qual match videos up sometime soon; another team member has them on his laptop right now so I dont have access to them.
