2015 SCRRF Kit Bot Build Day Workshops

From Kit to running Bot in one day!

The Southern California Regional Robotics Forum (SCRRF) division of Los Angeles Robotics is offering two Kit Bot Build Day (KBBD) Workshops this year:

Sunday, January 4, 2015, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Valencia High School, 500 Bradford Ave, Placentia, CA 92870

Saturday, January 10, 2015, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Foshay Learning Center, 3751 S Harvard Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90018

KBBD is an important event to help rookie teams get their FRC build season off to a good start, but veteran teams that want help with the new control system are also welcome. Experts from around Southern California will be available to demonstrate, help and teach teams to build working robots from their Kit of Parts. Experts will lead your team through Frame and Drive Train assembly, Electronics mounting and wiring, Programming, and Operation. By the end of the day, each team will have built and be able to drive their own working robot.

Fliers will also be available at the five FRC kickoff events in Southern California.

It is great the workshop is running!! Was a big help our rookie year.

Word of caution/advice though.
The work shop we attended ( and one we stopped by last year) only the long version of the frame was available to be made. Less cuts and time constraints, which I understand, but the downfall to that is being stuck with that size frame to build off of.

I would suggest not making any cuts at all, and briefing the teams that there different ways to set the frame up size wise depending on their design.

Our rookie year we didn’t really know any better, and were stuck with the long setup, and it kind of stifled our design as a result.

Just a thought.
