Team Breakaway 3937 is excited to be back at Bayou! We missed last year due to back to back regionals, but there is no way I am missing this year. This is one of the best run regionals in the world and the volunteers are in a league of their own! Cannot wait to join up with some old friends and meet some new ones.
Landon, this is awesome! Way to go Fusion! Always improving, always iterating. This is what an Einstein team is all about. Hopefully, we will get to play with you guys at Bayou and run next to this great machine!
We did give up our fuel floor intake for the active gear intake, but we can still load fuel from the hoppers. Honestly though, we will most likely only shoot fuel in autonomous.
We plan on having a chute that feeds the 10 preloaded fuel to our shooter for use in autonomous. We decided that fuel is only valuable in either very small or very large quantities, so we took the small route in order to possibly edge us ahead in matches where fuel would break a tie.
Brian, thank you for the support. You guys looked great at Arkansas. I didn’t get a chance to come by and see your robot up close - I’ll have to make time this weekend.
Wish I could be there but Rocket City is this week too … Everybody show Chuck Dickerson and his inspection team some love this weekend by getting your inspections done early …
Teams attending Bayou, please sing up your students for the ROTC breakfast on Friday morning at either 7 or 8 AM. ROTC is a $10K sponsor of the Bayou regional and if they don’t get a significant showing at this FREE breakfast we may loose this funding.
It is a FREE breakfast and these folks will be trying to get you to let them pay for your college.
I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the Bayou this year. I’m always so impressed by the team camaraderie, overall excitement, and atmosphere that surrounds the whole event. I also felt so honored to be able to emcee the event this year. Congrats to all of the teams who participated.
OK it’s shout-out time. Just got home after the 10+ hour drive back to Greenville, SC. This was 281 second year at Bayou and my first year since I couldn’t make the trip last year. This is an awesome regional. A big thank you to the organizing committee and everyone who pitched in in any small way to make the event the success it was. I didn’t get a chance to track down Carolyn Arthurs, but it seemed like I was getting an email from her evedry day leading up to the event.
Congratulations to 1912 (Team Combustion) for winning chairmans. It was well deserved. Most of our kids made their way over to 1912 during the eliminations and the 1912 stands were actually cheering like (and for) Greenvillains during the eliminations.
Finally a big thank you to 3616 (Team Phenomena) and 3937 (Breakaway) for making us their second pick. I was a bit worried we weren’t going to get to play Saturday afternoon because I thought our robot performance deserved the opportunity (OK I’m biased I admit it). Thanks for spotting us. The three of us made a very tough alliance to beat when we were all on our game (again, bias acknowledged). You are both terrific teams and it was a pleasure to play with you.
We would like to thank the entire Bayou Regional planning committee for hosting another great event. With Stephen and his crew of refs, Chuck and some great inspectors, and Joe and a great set of CSAs and field reset crew members, the event was well coordinated in all areas. We were so excited to get back to the Bayou Regional again. It was the first Regional I attended in 2010 and this was my seventh time to attend. It is like home for me.
Some Big Thanks
3616 and 281
Thanks 3616 for picking us as the first overall pick. We had a rough, rough schedule and was putting up some great numbers, but was just getting out scored. At alliance selections we were 3-5 and ranked 39th, but thanks for looking at the scouting data and letting us play alongside you and 281. This was a hard fought regional win and seeing the four rotors turn multiple times in elims was so sweet! See you both in Houston!
1912
I remember in 2010 when I first attended the Bayou Regional and saw you receive the Chairman’s Award and watched your Video Submission. I have looked up to you guys ever since. What a great program you have! Keep striving to improve STEM throughout your community, state, nation, and world.
1912:
Congratulations to you guys for winning chairmans. I started following you guys ever since we were together on an alliance for elims at bayou in 2016, and boy do you guys do some amazing work. See you guys at worlds!
3616:
Congratulations on the regional win. It was well deserved. We played you guys in quarterfinals at rock city this year, and you guys were a real tough alliance to beat. Glad to see you guys earning an opportunity to go to worlds!
281:
Again congratulations on the big win. We were together on an alliance for elims in bayou 2016, and man did I love your then drive team. I was rooting for your win at palmetto this year, but was super bummed when you barely lost quarter finals after 3 matches + another tiebreaker. Looking forward to seeing you guys at worlds.
3937:
Man were you guys a force to reckon with. Congratulations on the win, and super excited to see so many good rock city teams going to worlds! Again sorry about missing that climb in that four rotor match in quals :yikes: . See you guys at worlds!
