2017 Idaho Scouting Alliance

Team 1836: The MilkenKnights from Los Angeles is looking forward to attending the Idaho Regional for the first time later this month!

We are inviting teams to participate in a scouting alliance with us for this event. All teams are invited to participate in the alliance with us. If you are interested, sign up here!

What we need from you:

  • One to three scouts per team (more is great if you want to rotate)
  • A commitment to scout all day Saturday (drive team, Chairman’s Presenters, etc. may swap out when needed)
  • Prefered: A phone/tablet with cellular data (depending on WiFi at the event, we may be able to provide you with tablets to use. If you don’t have a device and there is no WiFi, we will provide paper forms)

What you get in return:

  • Unlimited access to all quantitative data collected
  • Awesome Google Sheets lookup interface
  • Pictures of all teams’ robots
  • Training and discussion in strategy for all scouts

A list of the data we are planning on scouting is on the form. We are open to collect other data, as well so post your suggestions below or submit them on the Google Form.

If you’ll be at the Idaho competition, we’d love to collaborate with you! This is a great opportunity for students to network and make friends on other teams. Please signup here.

See you in Boise!

Hello, my team will not be competing at Boise, but I am interested in your scouting system (particularly how you have formatted your spreadsheet). I understand that you might be concerned about the confidentiality aspect of it, would you be willing to share your spreadsheet with me after the event? Could you maybe share a blank version of it now?

Thanks,
-Malachi

I’m working on making a public draft which should be available soon.

The hope is to have a blank draft and one with the Idaho data in it. All of our quantitative scouting data will be publically available with hopes to assist newer teams or teams with fewer people to scout. Those who sign up to be part of our alliance will get immediate access and others will get it soon after.

What a cool idea, especially for teams who are new to scouting. Good for you for helping develop this. I’m curious why they are scouting all day Saturday and not on Friday? It would seem pretty beneficial to all involved for helping with alliance selection and strategy discussions Friday night. Looking forward to seeing you in Boise. Good Luck!

Big typo on my part! We need a commitment all day FRIDAY for quals scouting. Good catch!

See you in Idaho!
