2017 IRI Invitations

We are excited to extend a 2017 IRI invitation to the teams below.

This year was a near-record year for applications and making the selection list was extremely difficult. The selection team put a lot of hours and a lot of thought into this list. There are many good teams that are not on this list.

We are extending an invitation to 80 teams. History tells us that between 10 and 12 will not be able to attend, so our final field will be somewhere around 70 teams.

Thank you to all who applied and all who accept the invitation.

The prime contacts listed on the applications will receive an email within the next few days with the formal invitation and instructions on what the next steps are.

Wow. What a team list. Congrats to everyone that got in, especially our friends on 2791, 1796, 191, 340, 3015, 4265, and 4039! Some 20 and 5254 mentors are thinking of heading down to volunteer and spectate, because we couldn’t miss IRI.

The only team that’s really conspicuously missing from the list is 4188. 4188 made finals at Houston champs, their district champs, and two of their three district events (one of which they won), and they had an excellent robot. It’s a shame to see them not make it.

Team 4188’s lead mentor pulled their application, as they could not attend.

Here is a link to the IRI website, where the list also posted.

How did 1114 not get in?!??!? :yikes:

:stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Looks like an amazing list! Can’t wait to see teams from both championships in the FIRST All-Star competition.

Wow. first time back for us since 2011. Amazing list can’t wait!

Um…

Congrats to everyone who got invited, especially our Michigan Friends; 33, 51, 67, 107, 217, 469, 503, 910, 2137, 2337, 2767, 3452, 4967, and 5675! Good luck!

This list is solid! Congratulations to the new NE Contingent representing the Northeast with 125, 195, 1073, 2084, 2168, & 2648 you guys are going to do awesome down there!

And of course an obvious shout out to our Archimedes partners of 67, 1640, & 2137! Sorry we couldn’t make it down this year we would have loved a few more matches with you guys!

Hopefully King Tec brings more of their killer mixtapes, I think everyone would enjoy if they did.

I got 3rd degree burns taking it out of my bag after St. Louis

In all seriousness the team list looks great as always, good luck to everyone attending.

Their mix tape was incredible. Not only can King Tec do great outreach and build great robots… they can conglomerate some of the best songs from our century into a compact disc like no other team.

Nice roster for the All-Star Game! I hope I’ll be able to go with 1619 this year.

And if I remember correctly, I believe 3478 has become the first Mexican team to ever qualify for IRI. Congratulations to them!

They came in 2014 too

We are excited and honored to be competing in July for our 3rd time at IRI, and hope to represent TN FIRST well along with fellow east TN team and Roebling alliance partner 3824 HVA Rohawktics!

The tide has turned

TechFire 225 is fired up and honored to be invited and can’t wait to play with everyone on this great list, including our MAR friends 365, 1640, 1676 and 2590…

My birthday just got this much better.

Excited to see the Kansas City area represented by 1710 Ravonics Revolution, 1806 S.W.A.T., and 1987 Broncobots. Congratulations on extending your season to one more competition.

Team 2791 is stoked to shake it up at IRI!

This has been quite a season of firsts for us: our first regional win and our first time qualifying for champs since our rookie year eight years ago. We are honored and grateful to be able to add our first IRI invitation to that list.

Coming in from New England, including the entire New England District Champ alliance, and 60% Einstein, and :yikes: Looking forward to a 20-ish-hour drive…
