Mark your calendars for May 13th and watch this forum and your email for more info, as we finalize the details for the 2017 edition of our FRC MO State Champs invitational event.
This year the event will be hosted at Liberty High School, Wentzville, MO thanks to Team 1706, Ratchet Rockers, and their awesome mentor, Darrell Wodrich!
This will be a one day event with field set-up and load-in on Friday night, May 12th, and competition on Saturday, May 13th.
MO FRC teams will be invited based on their rankings derived from their 2017 Steamworks competition performance. Mr. Aaron Bailey, 1986 Titanium, is maintaining that ranking system and will be posting those results as they become available.
Good Luck in your remaining competitions and watch this thread for more info to follow.
I’ll see if I can post the current rankings when I get to the hotel tonight after Midwest Practice Day.
Rankings are the same as the last two years. Standard District Ranking points as outlined in section 10 of the manual. If a team only plays one event we do score it as if they had an equal performance at a 2nd event minus culture awards (IE, RCA, RAS).
The current plan is to invite the top 24 teams based on end of year rankings. We will also extend wait-list invitations to a few teams who would be able to attend on short notice if other invited teams cannot attend.
Additionally, all teams are welcome to attend and participate as event volunteers even if they are not competing. Individuals or teams interested in volunteering to help run the event should contact Renee Tate (Team 1706) at [email protected].
I found some possible errors with the math and I might not be seeing things correctly as well due to the fact that the whole district scoring method is a bit random in its cohesiveness. I realize there are a few teams with regionals this weekend so most of the 2nd week blanks will fill in.
Thanks for an independent look at the scoring algorithm and ranking. We are always looking for ways to ensure consistency and accuracy. If you have some specific questions or recommendations about the official ranking system we are using for this event, please contact Mr. Aaron Bailey (1986, Titanium) off-line for collaboration and clarification.
Aaron will be updating the official ranking on this site later this week once he’s integrated the Week 5 results. That official scoring will be used to extend invitations to the top 24 teams along with wait-list invitations to a small number of additional teams. Final ranking and final invitations will be extended following the last FRC events involving MO teams.
Reminder: Rankings are based on Standard District Ranking points as outlined in section 10 of the manual. If a team only plays one event we do score it as if they had an equal performance at a 2nd event minus culture awards (IE, RCA, RAS).
Teams in Red still have a 2nd event to play that will affect their ranking. Their current ranking reflects the doubling we would do if they did not attend their 2nd event.
Also wanted to remind teams that sometimes a team in the top 24 cannot attend the event. We will continue on down the list if that happens. Be prepared if you are on the bubble and still wish to attend.
Thanks to Aaron Bailey (1986, Titanium) for the ranking update.
Initial invitations have been sent and the following teams have already accepted and will be competing:
Initial wait-list invitations have also been sent, and teams will be moved from the wait-list to the participant list as accepts and declines are received. Additional invitations will be issued following week 7 events next weekend.
Thanks to Brandy Antonio (1706, Ratchet Rockers) for getting the Web Presence cranked up for this event. Check it out here:
6424 has accepted the invitation! We are so excited. Not only were we fortunate enough to win Rookie All Star at 10,000 Lakes Regional this weekend we got this invite on the way home. This has all been a crazy ride.
If you have been invited and are planning to attend the MO State FRC Championship, and if you are also attending one of the FIRST World Championship Events; you will need to process a “Robot Removal Request” as outline below. This process will allow you to remove your robot and shipping crate from the World Champs event, which is required for you to have your robot available for the MO State Champs event on May 13th.
This form is required to remove your robot from the Championship event. This information must be received NO LATER than the Friday before your Championship Event (Houston: Friday, April 14, 2017 and St. Louis: Friday, April 21, 2017).
This information must be received NO LATER than the Friday before your Championship Event (Houston: Friday, April 14, 2017 and St. Louis: Friday, April 21, 2017).
This will ensure FIRST does not provide return shipping documents for you.
Thanks to Mitch Comer (3284, 4H Laser) for getting us this info.
**Final Missouri State Ranking ** Note: Only a team’s first 2 events are counted for rankings. We know some had a spectacular 3rd event. Performances at champs will also have no bearing on these rankings. Picking inside the top 8 is permitted. Additional teams may need to be prepared to be captains. On occasion a team in the top 24 finds themselves unable to attend the event. We are reaching out to teams on the bubble to fill in as needed.
