2017 Slack Division/Pit Location Slash Command - Housyon

Hello everyone!

I know that many people are looking for easy ways to see a pit location - currently the sources are zooming in on a map, the TBA app for Android (which is great, if you have an Android), or the mediocre (non-searchable) FRCCMP app.

If you have Slack, you can install my new Slash command! It outputs something like this:

It is utilizing a website called Blockspring. Here is how it works:

  1. Click here*]Click “Add to Slack”
  2. Sign in with your Google Account
  3. Sign in to your Slack account
  4. Follow steps to complete the integration setup
  5. Use the slash command

Once installed, type

/blockspring champs ####

in any channel or DM. For example, to yield the screenshot above, type

/blockspring champs 1836

.

Due to my lack of other Slack domains, I have been unable to test how this actually works once shared so please let know how it goes if you try it!

For anyone interested, this is the spreadsheet I created that it is pulling from with every team and their information.

Works great for me, thanks Jared!

This is a masterkey to pit locations!

If you are getting an anagram - say 179 when you type in 971, put in the four digit number (such as 0971) and you should have no problem.

It will also now tell you how a team qualified for the event:

Will there be a version of this for St. Louis after Divisions are released?

Actually, the installed version of the app (but not the web version, oddly) is searchable, and gives the same info (minus the qualification method). It even provides a pannable and zoomable map showing you the location in the pits.

I’ll try!

Interesting…I haven’t played with the app a whole lot. Anyways, regardless, the idea is to make it easy right in Slack but whatever works for you!

Just added this to Team 8’s slack team. Works great, thanks!
