Also TRI had a video review rule again this year. It was used twice once it was initiated by the FTA to ensure that a boiler that was counting incorrectly didn’t sway a match result, the review confirmed everything we knew and a match replay was not needed.
The second instance of video review was initiated by the team to check for a penalty that effected the outcome of the match. The video review confirmed contact between two robots in the retrieval zone, it was called as a 5 point penalty properly as the TRI rules allowed. The call by the ref was confirmed.
Both reviews happened during pre-start of a following match and did not extend the time of the competition in anyway.
On behalf of Team Combustion, I want to thank Spectrum and their volunteers for hosting a great event. It’s a long-ish drive for us, but the event was well organized, well produced and well staffed. I hope that next year 1912 will be back with a bigger group for the full two days.
I agree with the previous posts - put it on your calendar for next June.
I’m going to use this as an opportunity to give my students some kudos. They organized, executed, and performed completely on their own for this event as they’ve done for a few years now. (There was a school rep and some parent attendance at the event, but no engineering mentor attendance.) It’s exciting to see the graduated seniors mentor the younger students, especially in the drive box. Congratulations to them for a well executed win.
As always, it is truly a pleasure to work with your students and your team. There isn’t anyone short of professional in all that they do whenever we get a chance to work with y’all.
Allen, thanks for putting on yet another incredible event. My team had a blast.
