2017 Utah Regional

Team Tators will be unlocking the spud shed and rolling out the Tator trailer for the journey to the Maverik Center at noon Wed! Looking forward to seeing some of our old friends as well as making some new ones. It is going to be a very competitive event with a lot of great teams that will be taking the field! Wishing safe, uneventful travels for our fellow competitors from AB, AZ, CA, CO, ID, NV, UT and WY.

Anxious to head north, Mike. Do you know if teams can set up pits Wednesday evening or just drop off stuff?

Team 1619 is looking forward to competing at this regional and seeing our friends again and making new ones. Almost every team going has been dead silent about their robot, and I’m excited to see what everyone has built! We’ll see you guys on Thursday!

RD has confirmed just now that pits can be setup Wed 6-8pm! Limited number of students/mentors permitted to setup Wed. Please check with event personnel upon arrival.

I wish I could come. :frowning:

My team will be there, though, and we are all excited for Utah! This will be a crazy competitive event. I hope that all the work 1339 put into their robot helps them stand tall in the company of great teams like 987, 2122, 1619, 2996, 4334, and others who will push us hard. Thanks very much to 2996 for the use of their field, and 1619 for transporting our robot!

Safe travels, we look forward to going up against some amazing teams this weekend!!

2073 is looking forward to seeing our good friends The Tators! Our trailor is hitting the road early Wednesday morning and the rest of the team will be flying in around 2 PM.
Do you know if the pits will be laid out by team number or some less reasonable method? :stuck_out_tongue:

Breaking the silence because we are hungry for some Tators!

Thanks Steve, exactly what I was looking for!

Plasma is excited to return to the Utah Regional. We last attended in 2012, and had a great time. Safe travels and best of luck to all teams.

Also, we will be helping with the live stream of the event. I won’t be sure what streaming service or channel we’ll be using until I start setting it up on Thursday. I’ll post the direct links by Thursday night. http://plasma.live will redirect there as well.

As always, 3374 is excited to see old friends, make new ones and compete! I’ve got a feeling Utah will be a great regional!

Anyone have a link to the live stream? I found this but it doesn’t load anything yet.

Plasma Robotics is no longer live streaming the event.
Other arrangements were made yesterday night, and we were informed this morning.
I believe this is the stream: https://livestream.com/accounts/8319851/events/7110280

Practice day is over and I can already tell it’s going to be a great event.

Field got set up and was finished before teams arrived today which meant a full schedule of practice matches. We were having some weird ball counting stuff going on but hopefully that gets fixed tonight.

I enjoyed my first ever time volunteering, met some awesome teams (1619 on top of that list) and got to catch up with some old friends from 2073, as well as seeing our newest hall of fame team in person.

Really excited for tomorrows matches, they’re going to be amazing

I am jealous of every single kid there because I don’t get to drive the robots anymore and this is a fantastic game.

Qualification Match 18 is going to be very fun to watch!!

Q18 was not so fun for us.

Is this not a broken field element?

I’d appreciate if anyone could chime in on this from an unbiased perspective. Obviously losing by one point is not easy, especially when the field breaks and prevents your team from scoring…

Did you folks try asking the referees for their opinion on what happened?
I can tell you this much.
Last week when we played at Palmetto, I showed them multiple instances where field elements were either broken or bent. No matches were replayed other than the FMS putting alliances in the wrong driver station, which was later corrected at many regionals across the country.

Having broken field elements is the downside to this year’s game for sure.

At least two teams at this regional have needed to restart their robots in order to connect to the field before the match started but were denied being able to do that and got bypassed for the match instead. Even though power cycling is a really quick fix.

I’m not sure I like the delay from points scored in auto. Are they manually counting them there? I don’t remember it taking 10 seconds to show up on the scoreboard at Palmetto.

As for the broken field element, they may have ruled that it did not effect the match as teams were still able to climb and put gears on at that location. True it made it easier for an opponents robot to interfere at the center slot though.

Nope. All FMS scoring here. In Quals 18 the boiler had issues a few matches before and in Q18 none of blue’s auton fuel points showed up on the scoreboard until teleop started, but it did all show.
