2019 Cowtown Throwdown

Thanks to all who came to Lee’s Summit this weekend for Cowtown Throwdown. We loved seeing new faces and seemed to have a great turnout. The stands were packed on Saturday and the FLL area was busy Saturday morning. I got to talk to some new people and they seemed to be having a great time. Team Driven is happy to work with Cerner to host this off-season event. We enjoy meeting new roboteers and showing the new students what FIRST is all about. We hope you can join us next year. I know we can only handle 48 to 50 teams so plan ahead and try to beat the rush on signup day.

Team 323, Lights Out, was so happy to return to CTTD in our new iteration. It was a great event just like we remember, but larger and more competitive. It was as tough as any regional we’ve attended. Wonderful way to end Tomahawk’s 2019 season.

Thanks to all the planning committee members, sponsors, volunteers and hospitable teams for a premier event. See many of you soon at Central MO 2020!

4646 had a great time as always, even if we didn’t do as well as we had hoped going in with our redesigned robot. Still, we gained valuable lessons and experience to apply to our build season next year. I’m not yet sure if we’ll do that again next year, but I’m glad we were able to pull it off.

We’ll see some of you at Iowa for Infinite Recharge, and for those we don’t see there, we’ll see you next October!

Sounds like the stream wasn’t recorded. I’m working on posting up some of our videos that we shot: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKEivSfRAJ2Q0fa29vJA9-R7Rw82DIqAU
Photos I shot are here for teams to use in their promotional materials: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipPVA8INuhHOSXamV0mJDDTef-P9YHCvNGtV_yM-NgO0fjbpg-VRbFcTJwnJc06DNQ?key=UDVyX3QxNTFyeWswYTJXTFVLb0loQVJRcEk4NS1B

I’ll let Bob (@hrench) know, and we’ll see how quickly we can post his videos. Here’s his channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/hrench. Same thing happened last year btw. I think he may have got some close up in finals, but he was running short on space.

Also, I'll add a quick look at OPR changes here, compared with my earlier scouting thread.

For my team, I can take small solace that we made improvement from the season, even if it fell well short of how I thought we could do (our result being ~12 versus a goal of 20+). But we’ll take some tough lessons forward and hope to keep improving. Otherwise, thought CTTD went well and had fun seeing some other teams we are nearer to in elims, like 5119 and 8112. And appreciate all the volunteers and hosts.
