2019 Team Update 21 (Last One of the Year!)

Some team was probably moving the hatch/cargo holders in the player station.

I believe its saying you can’t move the game piece holders in the driver stations (aka move the ball holder closer to the feeder station to make it quicker to feed cargo in)

This is exactly what happened. I saw it happen a multitude of times at AVR this last weekend.

So uh, G20 fun is here to stay I guess…

Good strategy, odd it took this long for teams/FIRST to notice. Well at least some teams at AVR can say they have a rule in the rulebook about them now.

yeah we did that in 7 Rivers, but all we did was rotate them 90 degrees so we had space to walk around on the blue side (it was very tight quarters on blue).

We did this. Our human player pulled the cargo rack closer to the station so we didn’t have to deal with cargo rolling around behind the station.

This is a fair rule update. We’ll be sure to not do this at champs.

I did it at NC CMP and pulled one from the loading station to the other loading station. Even better, it isn’t regarded as a game piece so I was able to do it as the coach.

It was a good strategy while it lasted. It accelerates cargo cycles by a considerable amount. A robot with a wide intake could move 2 feet and there was always a cargo there.

It was definitely a fair strategy. For sure helped with flooding the field faster.

It doesn’t say anything about game pieces, just the holder. Your alliance’s third human player can still be the one to bring the cargo over.

Honestly this team update ruins the game. I’m very disappointed in you FIRST. (That was sarcasm if it wasn’t obvious)

Time for the corner bumper meta?

That sounds like a dance combining features of the Chicken Dance and the Electric Slide.

After standing in the back corner of the driver stations for more than enough competitions, I never saw anyone move the holders. Grab an armful of hatches, yes, and dump them at the Loading Station for use*. Awkwardly grab more than one Cargo (**) and run across to the other Loading Station. The Hatch Panel Holders are not one piece and even sliding across the floor can fall apart. The Cargo in the Cargo Holders do not behave well either when moved.

(*) I’ve always asked the Human Player to please put them back at the end of the match; except during Finals there’s usually a pile left over.

(**) Anyone able to pick up and carry more than 3?

What’s up with this being the last Team Update of the season? Don’t they think some enterprising teams at the DCMP’s this weekend could come up with things that would require a rule change for CMP’s?

At CNY, the head ref said HP could toss Cargo from one end to another, but not hatch panels. You must walk to the other feeder station and pick up the panel.

But if you were to flood the field, couldn’t you have a third HP do that? I mean by HP1 would rotate with HP2 picking up cargo and dropping it off, x5 or 6 times.

I suppose so, and I’ve seen some cooperation, sometimes. Mostly it ends up as field litter.

Heh – flood the field. Watching the HP quickly dump Cargo always reminds me of the strategy with the Steamwork’s fuel cells.

Been there from day one, I believe:

H15. No throwing HATCH PANELS. Team members may never throw HATCH PANELS.
Violation: RED CARD.

Added: Yup, it was the same in my encrypted copy.

I haven’t found anything against hanging a dozen of them on your lower arm.

I thought it was obvious that hatch panels hurt.

Yeah, someone at drivers meeting brought it up.
