Looking forward to another great event at AVR. 6960 Rusty Huskies will be there.

That’s quite the list of needed volunteer roles for a week 6 event… If I wasn’t clear across the country and doing 5 other events in surrounding weeks (3 before, 2 after), I would definitely sign up!

Just a quick update -

I know I’m preaching to the choir regarding volunteer positions, but we still have a few vacancies that we need to fill:

  • Field Supervisor
  • Lead Queuer
  • Pit Admin Supervisor
  • Safety Manager
  • CSAs and Robot Inspectors
  • Webcast operator

If you’re a mentor/parent attending with a competing team, I highly recommend volunteering even just part-time with the event. I’ve inspected and CSA’d before while part of a team and have found it a rewarding way to connect with other teams at the event.

Are any of these good jobs for parents who have not volunteered before?

Absolutely.

For those who want to get started in volunteering, the following positions are great entry-level positions that require minimal training and experience prior to the event:
Field Assembly
Field Repair/Reset
Pit Admin Support
Practice Field Attendant
Quiet Room Attendant
Safety Attendant
Spare Parts Attendant
Team Load in/out
Team Queuing
Volunteer Registration Attendant

I’d also suggest signing up as a robot inspector if they’re able to complete a short online training course.

If they sign up on their FIRSTInspires Dashboard before the event, they can receive instructions on what they need to do to prepare for each position.

My team will be there , I will be in Orange County the same weekend as I signed up before they chose Aerospace and OC was my first event volunteer role since its inception with a great crew.

Never be afraid to sign up for any role , FIRST will help train you! It’s an amazing experience and offers a whole new perspective outside of your team. Its mainly to make sure all teams have a great event and enjoy their time there. You make a difference to how the event runs.
