2020 FRC Events Affected by COVID-19

Our school blocked us from traveling to FLR, probably the right call.

If I recall correctly. A meeting is going to be held tomorrow (Wednesday) to discuss the plan for HVR and I think also NYC.

With all these cancelations when is first going to address this issue beyond their last post. What are plans for champs, are teams going to get refunds if events arnt made up till summer/fall. Idk about everyone else but I dont care to much for paying 5000$ for an off season event. Didnt mean to reply to you hailey it just grabbed you for some reason

My guess is that everything happening inside FIRST headquarters right now is about addressing that

We don’t know. Anything else anyone tells you before an official statement is released is speculation. Hopefully soon, maybe not.

Yes NYC FIRST has a meeting Wednesday, so that would be when they probably have a lot of discussions on the matter.

As I talked about in the Would FIRST cancel Champs with no refund? thread, it’'s a tough situation. I know from taking Public Relations and Marketing classes, this isn’t something you want to immediately rush, this is an evolving situation, many factors come to play, and you need to make sure you cover all the bases before an announcement.

Honestly, I would hate to be someone working at HQ this week, it must be so stressful with a lot going on, I have been in contact with a few RDs and they have been having a lot on their plate.

Cant speak for NYC, but based on the information received the other day (can’t cite, I personally did not receive the email), Rockland County has no plans for canceling or shutting down events or schools in their area. An event postponement would most likely not be due to a school closure, but rather if the event coordinators/FIRST decided to postpone.

This is correct for HVR (can’t speak for NYC though)

Update from FIRST Indiana (FIN) - no cancellations at the moment.

Everything outlined in the document above is pretty much the same e-mail I got about a week ago before volunteering at the Del Mar Regional as well as I believe from the FIRST Volunteer Department.

In discourse, threads are “pinned” per user. If you’ve read the thread then it becomes unpinned until it’s updated again. That may only be new posts and not wiki edits that reset it.

Intresting that it lists all PNW events as “canceled” yet many other events as “postponed”

I know that originally Auburn Mountainview and Auburn were both cancelled (before the broader announcement), I wonder if it’s just a messaging mistake in carrying those over? The messaging I’ve seen from Kevin has consistently been postponed, up to and include the title of the post here and the message on FIRSTWA’s website.

Thanks for posting the link. I updated the original wiki post to include it as the official source of information.

People can read the email and take what they will from it

I’ll vouch for Luke. I was on a conference call with a New England regional director when he told us that New England weeks 3 and 4 are canceled/postponed.
