2020 FRC practice field in San Mateo (CA)

Hi everyone,

This year, we are once again creating a full FRC practice field for teams looking for a field to practice at. The practice field is located at the San Mateo County Event Center, and any team interested is welcome to come and use the field (as long as they sign up).

Field setup

As those that visited last year might remember, only half of the field elements were present at our field in the past. This year, we’re creating every field element (both sides). As of now, we have just over one half of the field elements (one alliance’s worth) ready. The carpet and field perimeter are already complete and ready for basic drive practice. The real field has the specified (metal) truss in the indicated location (in order to replicate the vision lines in a real match), but does not have generator switches mounted to it. For climber testing, there will be a wooden A frame with generator switch attached to the side of the actual field.

Availability

The field is available most days, including the weekend. There are a few dates that no teams are allowed to be there, but otherwise, we have full access. If you would like to use the field, you should fill out our field request form. Any time requests need to be sent by Friday @ 15:00 2 weeks prior. If there are technical difficulties with the form, you can shoot us an email at burlingamerobotics (AT) gmail (DOT) com instead.

If we previously submitted a request do we need to do so again?

Requests that were made using the new (2020) request form OR emails that were sent to [email protected] after kickoff this year will be processed.

I can’t make any guarantees that old forms will be checked for new submissions. For those that are unsure if they submitted incorrectly, I would recommend sending an email for confirmation (to the email listed above) or resubmitting to the request form (the way we have this all set up, duplicate submissions shouldn’t be an issue).

Also, while you didn’t explicitly ask, I figured I’d mention that I can see the request you made and I’ll add it to the schedule as soon as I have the time!

So, the field is closed this weekend due to the coronavirus. Do any other teams in the bay area have a field they’re willing to share? (we’re willing to drive out as far as Davis or Gilroy)
