Some opinions based on watching most of the matches from the official week 0:
– I’d swap red and blue sides on the scoreboard. It is a little confusing seeing red score on the top left but then having to look to the bottom right to see their score. I get that the red alliance station is on the right but I think most people watch the scoring robots and not the drive teams.

– The inner port is pretty much completely forgotten about while watching the webcast. I can’t tell from watching the match or looking at the scoreboard if the alliance is scoring in the inner port or just the outer port. I would add counts of low goal, outer port and inner port to the scoreboard.

– Climbing isn’t the most viewer friendly. The angle is difficult to determine if a robot is hooked on and lifted off the ground. Plus, the blue robots climbing blocks the view of the red robots climbing.

– This totally could be my personal preference, but when I’m watching a match live, I only pay attention to the full field view and the scoreboard. I only watch the small views when re-watching a match to see a specific team or specific strategy and don’t care about the scoreboard in these situations. Given that, I would go back to putting the small views at the top, the full field in the middle and then the scoreboard. So, when watching a match live, it’s disorienting to have the small views right in the the middle of the only two things I care about. I hope they go back to how they had it in previous years.

I would say I generally agree. blue score should be under blue scoring robots, red score under red scoring robots. Full field directly above the scoreboard, smaller views in upper corners. I’m not sure what the bar above the stage counts is, presumably something to do with the switches being level. It’d be nice if there was something with the color wheels between the stages, showing their completion. I’m not sure if a count showing lower goals, inner and outer goals is necessary except in the score breakdown after the match.

I know if I was to be scouting, I’d appreciate a live tally of lower vs outer vs inner shots, if only to be able to see whether the shots went into the inner port or outer port.

If anyone is curious, here’s the post-match scoreboard:

What do the long thin horizontal bars on each side of the live score indicate?

What do the long thin horizontal bars on each side of the live score indicate?

These seemingly indicate a balanced state on the Shield Generator Switch for the alliance.

Could somone provide an annotated version for those of us who haven’t had a chance to watch week zero yet? :grinning:

In my opinion the scoreboard this year is really bad. There is no explanation to what’s going on, and it’s hard to track.

At least have a Circle, Hex, and Rectangle as scoring icons

I would agree with that, there’s room on the board to add specific counts if they compressed the stage icons a bit. However I would hope that they wouldn’t pull a 2019 and create a table

When i get home and have a mouse, I’m going to design one

Not technically the scoreboard but I guess how the API is being sent out has fouls displayed on the wrong side on TBA (in my opinion)

Whoops, this is a bug on the TBA side. Should be fixed in a few, thanks for flagging

In the example above, shouldn’t red not get credit for Shield Generator Switch Level since none of their robots climbed? Not sure if that’s a TBA bug or FIRST API bug, though.

Yup, that’s also a TBA bug.

Here’s my proposal for an improved scoreboard

Im assuming the “crowns” with numbers are the stage levels?

Yes. I didn’t change that part as the current implementation seems to make sense, especially as the match progresses.

Ok thanks

what do u think about adding some sort of control panel symbols for position control and rotation control? idk if it’d be better to shift the stages and put the rotation control between 2 and 3 and position after 3, or just to put them between1 and 2 and 2 and 3… i suppose you could also just have a control panel symbol as a 4th box with a R and a P that turn into check marks or something after they are scored.
