As per tradition, IRI wrapping up means Season Long Fantasy FIRST starts kicking into higher gear, starting with taking registration. Sign up below. BUT, before you do… Read the following.

What is this? Season Long Fantasy FIRST (SLFF) is your chance to assemble your dream alliance of three teams for each event, and see how many points they can rack up. But everybody else in the league is trying to do the same thing… so it gets a little competitive.

Time Commitment: SLFF is a time-intensive game. On average, we spend two to three hours per night, every night between Thanksgiving and Kickoff, just on drafting. This does not count time doing research on teams you may want to draft . Because of the time commitment required, you MUST play in a team of between two and 6 participants. (Unless you’ve been grandfathered in. You know who you are.) If you don’t have a team yet, sign up in the “Looking for Team” slots and start asking others in there.

There is a minimum participation requirement, and it has been changed from last year—you have to make at least 2/3 of your picks, as a rolling average. Miss that, get warned. Fail to respond to a warning, or get 3 warnings, you’re out and your teams are up for grabs. Like I said before, this is a time-intensive league. Also, the participation requirement continues through District Champs, as the league drafts those and the Championship Events—though we do not draft during build as a general rule.

Are you interested, but want to try it and see how it goes? The Offseason Fantasy FIRST (OFF) league is drafting an offseason event near you! Draft an event or two and see if this is something you’re interested in, and maybe you’ll find some teammates.

Speaking of finding teammates… there’s a lot of discussion and teamfinding on the SLFF Discord. While participation is not required, it’s a lot of fun.

–The rulebook is still under discussion. A draft version will be posted in the next couple of days.
–We do NOT have a draft schedule yet. Tell HQ to get the rest of the events up. Expect a start around Thanksgiving, however–there’s a possibility we move the start up a week or two.
–Yes, Falcon is one of the grandfathered teams. And the Commissioner’s team. And the longest-running team… Questions?

I have seen a couple of signup questions already, so here’s the answers.

  1. How do I sign up? A: copy the lists from the last post, add yourself at the end.
  2. When do signups end? A: We will announce, but no sooner than the beginning of November and no later than Thanksgiving. You can change your team at any point through the start of drafts without a commissioner’s involvement.

Also, for anyone who doesn’t know there’s also a SLFF Discord where we talk fantasy first, FRC in general, and other random fun things. It’s by no means official but we (including Mr. Falcon Commissioner Man) see it as being to SLFF how Chief Delphi is to FIRST, meaning its not official but there is a ton of useful information on there, along with veterans to answer questions you might have.

Fair warning, it is NSFW as we do not police language. So join with that knowledge.

*I have a couple of nominations already. If you’re interested, CD PM me or Discord PM me. Before you do, read the Leadership Information, and know that I’ll be looking for: A level head, preferably experienced in FF (ideally with some draft running experience), and someone that has the respect of the community (if possible, we can often be rather irrespectful).

Oh, and as per usual, we’ll be looking for plenty of draft runners as we get closer to drafting season. I don’t know how many drafts we’ll have–we haven’t tried to balance the districts yet, or schedule anything at all–but as a request let’s try to spread out the draft-running among the various teams playing if they have someone who wants to try it. No idea what autorunners/draft assistants may or may not be available either.
