Best of luck to all teams attending!

The official team list was updated today and contains the 60 teams that have accepted their invitations. It looks like 2095 and 4285 have declined their invitations and their replacements are 293 and 484.

This would mean 2234 declined as well, as they were the first team past the cutoff.

It was great seeing everyone this weekend - Lehigh is my favorite event every year.

Some of my favorite robots this weekend were:

341 -
Miss Daisy’s climber is awesome. It really just flies up to the top rung incredibly fast.

1089 -
Incredible cargo shooter. I first saw them at Mt Olive where they had a bad bounce-out problem. I don’t know how they fixed it but WOW that machine can score. I love how the turret searches around to find the goal when it doesn’t see it.

1640 -
What a beautiful robot. Love the turret and the powercoat color scheme looks phenomenal.

3142 -
The traversal climber this team added for Lehigh is super cool. One of the students showed me the design sketches of it - unbelievable - like a hand drawn CAD screenshot. If anyone will be at Houston then stop by their pit and check it out.

5895 -
Incredible machine all year, the shooter is crazy accurate (our students were heavily inspired by it when designing a new shooter for our robot). The intake on the robot is also extremely good.

Overall it was an awesome event - great to see all of the teams competing. I was really missing 225 though - they had such creative robots. I don’t know what they would have built but I know it would have been awesome.

Everyone in FMA should be proud of FMA Champs. From the teams, volunteers, mentors and students this weekend’s event was a great success. Well done. (well there was the Sat. morning field issue - nothing’s perfect)

Is it a powder coat? I know a lot of previous 1640 robots were just spray painted.

Yep! We actually do it in the mall our workshop is in, we altered a smoker (like for food) to be able to get hot enough for it. Spray paint dripped too much and the fumes were a bit of a problem lol

For any FMA teams going to Houston, United has non stop flights from PHL to HOU that have 45 seats. Group travel opens 7AM CST Monday if you call first thing you can snag them.

What a fantastic event! As a newcomer to MAR/FMA, I was impressed with the hospitality and gracious professionalism of everyone I interacted with. 3142 couldn’t have had a better season so far and we’re super excited about Houston. I have some thoughts below:

4342 -
Your team is extremely well put together. It reminded me of high level sports discipline the way your drive team takes time after a match to watch recorded video of the match. It makes a lot of sense to do this; you can evaluate performance and determine what adjustments to make. In addition, your scouting is next level. I’ll admit that without your intense lobbying, our alliance would have not chosen this next team:

2607 -
We very much enjoyed being on the same playoff alliance as you. You had so many spare versaplanetary parts for our hastily constructed climber. On the field, you were a powerhouse. It goes to show how deep the field was when your team, with a 4-ball auto and double digit teleop scoring capability, falls to being a second pick. Throughout the whole awards ceremony, I was hoping that you would punch a ticket to Houston with a judged award, but that did not come to pass.

2590 -
Your team is nothing short of inspiring. With such a capable bot, I have to imagine you’re going to be playing well into Saturday at Houston. All that being said, by some happenstance my team is 3-0 against you, but while allied with you we’ve suffered more mechanical breakdowns than one can shake a stick at. I promise we’re not trying to become your nemesis!

365 -
Thank you so much for your team-signed get well card for our student who had a knee injury on Thursday. You are an absolute class act.

341 -
When we called a timeout between semis matches against you, you were right there offering assistance. Though the sorry state of our chain was nowhere near fully solvable in a playoff timeout situation especially given our limited experience with this application, we appreciated the gesture of coopertition!

1923 & 1914 -
Wow! Finalist and Winner and Chairman’s. That is a whole lot of medals. Project Gemini looks like a huge success.

That’s Austin for you. Ever since he saw the videos from 179 and 846 earlier in the season, he was dead set on adding a climber of that style to our robot. He started sketching ideas for ways to manufacture something like that given the tools and materials around the shop. Having a steadfast vision can go a long way.

Question about 225. I saw that 2539 was using a trailer that looked like it formerly belonged to 225. Is there a connection between the two teams?

225 donated a number of items this season to other teams as they did not compete, the trailer was one of them iirc.

Knowing us, it probably would have been a tank drive with a turret and a wall climber.

Miss you all
