Here is the 2022 release of FRC Team 180’s SPAMalytics Scouting System (I miss calling it the Poor Man’s Scouting System)
The SPAMalytics Scouting System is offered for teams who want to scout, but don’t have the resources to pull together their own system (yet).
It is easy to set up and run. All you need is to print off one Scouting Sheet pdf for each team in your event. We’ve found the printing on Legal (14" x 8-1/2") paper and attaching them to manila folders makes it easier to write on.
You have you choice between using the MS Excel or Google Sheets version for your data storage and analysis.
Good luck to everyone. Stay safe, stay healthy, and HAVE FUN!!!
On the paper sheet your autonomous scoring columns go Low → High then on Tele-op they go High → Low. On your Google sheet they are both High → Low, is there a reason for the difference?
Unrelated to scouting but I spy a new logo coloration on the paper sheet, is this a SPAMALYTICS specific logo or something we will see the team applying elsewhere?
Seriously I love this system and the effort you all put into it.
I’ve updated the scouting sheet to cover 12 matches.
I’ve also added a “reduced-ink” version that only has the logos in color.
The yellow and red card entry is at the bottom of the sheet. We instruct our scouters to enter the match number in one of the boxes and the data entry scouter adds that into the database.
The Excel spreadsheet and Google sheet are functionally identical. We’ve left the color choice up to the individual developer.
The updated (v1.1) versions of the scouting sheet will be added to the original post.
For teams whom have used the Google Sheets version in past years, how do you go about entering data? Is it just having the user scroll to the current match number on the “Match Data” tab and inputting data there?
I love that with the excel spreadsheet there are buttons/macros implemented to make data entry extremely straight forward and easy for the users (ie, our students), but the entire school system here revolves around Google, with no access to Microsoft Office. The Google Sheets version on the other hand is going to be extremely helpful this year for us considering our scouts will be at home watching the live stream, and then the drive team can see the data update in real time while at the event.
I appreciate your asking, but I can’t commit to that time. However, George Wallace (George21902) would be a very good replacement. He and I have been developing the SPAMalytics system for many years now. And he has a better voice than I.
If anyone used SPAMalytics during week 1, please give us some feedback. Or, better yet, PM me and we can get a copy of your data and “tune” the coefficients.
