I am both nervous and excited to be going back to competitions in person. Nervous because we have work to be done… still. Excited because it’s been so long!
OCR has 47 teams!
3 from out-of-state: 987 (NV), 1339 (CO), and 3880 (HI)
3 international: 4400 (Mexico), 6920 (Netherlands), and 8071 (Turkey)
Multiple world champions… hall of fame teams… favorites from all over California…
Should be fun.
Excited to see some of my favorite robot people masked up and vaxed for a fun-filled event! 33% of our volunteers are alumni, and even higher percentage filling key roles.
A quick PSA from AngelBotics. We are bringing the following items to the event to help with specific needs that may arise for teams:
Falcon 500 repair kit, including replacement screws for both the shaft and the casing, blue loctite, shims, and high quality tools for removal of old screws. We can assist with approximately 20 motors.
6" corner bumpers with custom numbers, if a team has not been able to make bumpers that comply with the rules for this year’s game yet. Only one team’s worth of bumpers, but we have the ability to cut numbers for other teams.
2"x2"x1/16" and 1"x1"x1/16" aluminum stock to repair or replace climber legs for the popular WCP and TTB climbing systems. It seems that this is OOS in many places, so we are bringing what we have left.
Those are all First Alumni and a great part of the great SoCal volunteer crew. There are plenty of others that also contribute to run a magnificent event!
Little late to the party here, but a warm mahalo to the organizing team for the regional! It was an exceptional competition, venue, and overall my team had a great time! All the volunteers were welcoming, friendly, and supportive (even when we had a couple crazy robot issues). One of my favourite regionals I’ve attended! Hopefully, schedules will work out again and we’ll be able to compete at OCR next year! Mahalo nui loa!
