The wildcard rules are still not as clear as I’d like- is the new line additive or just a clarification of the previous paragraph?
If a team qualified before the event and wins 2 qualifying awards, are 1 or 2 wildcards generated? (see 359 @ CAVE)
I wonder if it has something to do with there being an event going on right now instead of Tuesday usually being clear. I had a feeling this one might not address it so as not to make a major rule change in the middle of an event.
It looks like the q&as around g204 got answered but unfortunately nothing about it in the team update.
Feels bad to get essentially rules lawyered out of ticket to Champs.
I’m glad they have clarified the Wild Cards rules however, hopefully no other team has to go through the uncertainty us and 364 went through this past weekend.
1 wildcard was generated by 359 at CAVE
I don’t see why if the same team generates 2 additional qualifiers, only 1 wildcard is generated.
If one of the awards went to another team, then 2 wildcards would have been generated.
With respect to the No of slots going to Worlds, it’s the same so why should it matter?
By the way, we love giving wildcards. Wish there was 2 from this past weekend.

Same thing happened in match #30. Went from 17 cargos to 27 for the blue alliance.
This is the possibility the most GP way you could say “We love winning”. Respect
Sorry about this Nick. This means that the CAVE event only generated 3 champs invites!
- With an average event size of 50, teams chances have historically averaged about 14 % within CA Regionals (7 invites / event)
- With single champs this year this has been chopped to an 8% average (4 invites / event)
- And with this rule “clarification”, this drops it to only a 6% avg. chance when this happens.
As CAVE was only 40 teams it was actually 7.5% of the teams invited, but it still makes a crappy situation worse. And the worst part is that if they did not add this rule, the situation did not add to the total number of regional invites planned. I don’t understand the logic at all.
Let’s add to the confusing update.
