That looks like liquid to me… WATER GAME CONFIRMED!
We did! Shouting at the NASA guy worked!
Wait hol up is this actually real
And if so why is it unlisted on YouTube
Don’t know for sure, but in the past, I know HQ has shared videos like this for FLL and FTC regions to play at the end of their seasons at local championships. When this happens, it’s only a matter of time until the link gets out there.
EDIT: I also got this video in an email titled 🎇 Happy New Year 🎇
Between the measuring, angles, and coloring, I wouldn’t be shocked if this involved some use of the STEAM acronym. Something like FIRST EXTREME STEAM or whatever.
You know what steam is? The gaseous form of water. Water game confirmed
I got an email from HQ about 5 minutes ago with the link.
Seems legit enough to me.
So we don’t have the 2023 FRC game but we have a 2023-2024 FIRST teaser.
I got an email from a regional director a couple days ago telling me that the regional I’ve been on a waitlist for has limited space. Glad HQ is thinking big while the rest of use are worrying about minor details.
“The Lego Group” in the copyright… lego sponsored season? or FLL media
I get the frustrations of registration and all, but I feel this bit of snark is unwarranted. I’m sure you know the marketing department probably can’t help get you registered for your regional.
So was that bit of snark.
And actually, HQ’s marketing department could probably help get teams registered for regionals. If they’d market to potential regional (and district) sponsors, instead of current participants, we could have more regionals. More regionals = more spots. More spots = fewer waitlisted teams. (Maybe not this year at this point… but next year.)
(Also: as I’m sure you’re aware, HQ’s track record on what they focus on vs what teams focus on is spotty at best. There’s a reason there’s a Team Advocate, AKA “Person who is the recipient and forwarder of team complaints every time HQ messes up”.)
At the moment of typing, I did not consider the marketing department or their sway on my region. If I offended anyone in marketing, I apologize. I also was unaware that FLL and FTC get these teasers prior to FRC.
Perhaps I could have highlighted some other, less personal, examples of struggles faced by the FRC community, and remarked how it would be nice to hear more from HQ on those topics before kickoff. But, it was Friday night… and I guess I cut loose a little!
Seems my not-so-bold prediction was right:
Lights, camera, STEAM! Science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) inspire big ideas, bold action – and creativity. Our skills make it possible to create art and experiences that bring us together, entertain us, and move us.
During the 2023-2024 FIRST season, FIRST ® IN SHOWSM presented by Qualcomm, we’re shining a spotlight on the role STEM plays in the arts and empowering young people to design and build a world of endless possibilities. The future is a place you will create.
