They killed the momentary strategy lol
I am glad its gone
A couple of the rules lawyers thought that they found a loophole with how the referees called multi game piece fouls.
Notably no adjustment to “the noodle agreement” strategy of 2023. (That is, agreeing with the opposing alliance to both descore a game piece and automatically get the SUSTAINABILITY bonus.) We’ll have to wait for Q&As about this, perhaps they see it as already settled with another rule.
they found a loophole in how the rules were worded, not in how referees would call it
It also looks like they silently fixed the reference errors in the manual

I would expect that it would be covered in H105-106
Is a robot knocking off a cone “playing beneath their ability?” Maybe? I think the “manipulate the rankings of other teams” clause from H107 also may be applicable, but I hope this gets addressed in Q+A or a team update.
Good - I’m happy FIRST realized how dumb the “Greater-than-MOMENTARY” rule was and corrected it before teams designed around it.
RIP my juggling robot. Something that will only ever live on in my head now
Well, I’m not sad to see it go. But crossing this minefield without encountering a game piece that you could inadvertently control while carrying one is going to be another concern for penalties, although it may just be back to pushing in a direction or just passing through ref interpretation.
I can’t imagine too many game pieces lying around midfield in high level play, too valuable to cut a cycle distance in half…
Going off of the wording in the update I think it would be pretty tough to do this. It’s almost an oxymoron. See definition B
