The 2024 beta driverstation (from the NI Game Tools beta) has the following two behaviors that I think are worth noting.
First, unlike prior years’ driverstation software, the graph view does NOT display packets that encounter significant delay, but nevertheless arrive, as being “lost”. So where before high latency would be accompanied by a display showing lots of “lost” packets, this no longer occurs. As has been discussed in a prior thread (Severe (>100%?) packet loss), this new behavior is a better reflection of what’s really going on at the network level and may lead to troubleshooting down a more fruitful path when high latency occurs.
Second, I installed the DS on a brand new machine that had never had the DS on it before. I entered the IP address of a (simulated) robot and it refused to connect – even after checking all the usual subjects such as firewall, network addresses, etc. What fixed it was to temporarily replace the IP address in the Team Number box with the Team Number (there was no robot at any of the addresses that would be generated from this) and then change it back to the IP address. Then it connected and worked normally.
