2024 Ontario District Heat Map

Inspired by the recent New York heatmap thread, I decided to make one for ONT!

Note: map has been cropped because there aren’t any teams North/West of Cochrane

Team count is 138, up from 123 in 2023!

  • 15 new rookies
  • 4 returning teams (854, 4939, 5689, and 8572)
** Note: 8572 previously competed in 2021 while being based out of Afghanistan
  • 4 teams dropped (1374 [folded back into 1334], 6378, 7690, and 8850)
  • 9 district events, up from 8 in 2023
  • Lost Western, gained Centennial and saw the return of Durham/UOIT
  • FOPC returns to Mississauga, albeit in a different venue (The International Centre)

Team data was pulled manually from FIRSTInspires/TBA, and I’m confident on all but a few community teams near district borders.

Event pins were placed by hand and sourced from FIRSTInspires/Google Maps- I’m no cartographer so they might be a bit messy.

Correct me if im wrong/misinterpreting the data and map, but shouldn’t middlesex county be showing as yellow on the map? It’s currently orange, indicating we only have at most 5 teams in the region. However the data you listed shows that we have 12 teams registered here (which is correct).

Thanks for the notice!
I initially had orange and yellow flipped, and I guess I forgot to swap over Middlesex when I changed them.

Sounds good.

Thanks for doing this up! It’s cool to get a visiual sense of how big FRC in Ontario is, and where all our teams are!
