Round Rock Robot Rodeo is an offseason dedicated to celebrating diversity and inclusion in the FIRST Community in Texas and demonstrating FIRST’s continuing support of LGBTQ+ individuals in our community.
Additional information will be posted here.
Please join us and end your summer on a HIGH NOTE!
Unfortunately, we had to change the event’s name, and we can not officially hand out rainbow material. As with other FIRST events, we encourage teams to bring their own rainbows.
The current teams registered are:
Team Number
Team Name
418
Purple Haze
418
we’re workshopping it right now check back in later
What prompted the rename and the inability to hand out rainbow material? (I have a feeling I know but would love to hear it from y’all’s perspective) Hope this is a great event!
There were concerns about Rainbow in the name and handing out rainbow material from the school district, as well as FIRST in Texas requiring all forms of advocacy to be approved by FiT if you rent a field from them. We were unable to get a clear answer from FIRST in Texas, and the host school was concerned that their funding would be affected if the event had a “Rainbow” theme.
Howdy y’all! The Round Rock Robot Rodeo has updated the event rule changes because we anticipate a low number of teams attending.
We are still looking for more teams to attend. Registration fees are $400 for in-season teams, and $100 for off-season robots. We plan to email out payment instructions this Monday July 15th.
