Whose Q&A caused this?

Hey. Lets make our grammar less precise and more confusing. “A team member is left-handed” does not mean that EVERY team member is left-handed. Similarly, “A team member is prohibited” does not mean that EVERY team member is prohibited.

The old “team members are prohibited…” was clearer. They could also say “No team member may take any of the following actions” or “all team members are prohibited …”

Given the amount of time between the question being answered and this update, I assume it wasn’t directly in response to this question but it did get the ball rolling on making this change.

Somehow they managed to update the text in Section 7 of the manual, but not in the whole game manual, for the violation of rules G406, G407, G408, G428 and G429. Some one with access to Q&A want to ask if, for example, a NOTE entered other than via the SOURCE is one TECH FOUL or is still a TECH FOUL per NOTE?

EDIT: Sorry, that wasn’t meant to be a reply to bobby’s post.

The “No Homers Club” strikes again!

Shouldn’t that be No Homer, singular?

Section 7 now agrees with the whole Manual. But they don’t agree with the text that was stricken out by Team Update 7 from the Violation sections of the above rules.

That was A good clarification FIRST.

I have A few questions about this.

Does this actually do anything? Because I feel it introduces more technical loopholes with language, and just doesn’t seem that necessary to update.

Why?

Of course it does.

If before, pluralization was arbitrary, and now it’s deliberate, we won’t waste time rule lawyering and wondering whether or not a pluralization was intentional.

For example, G202 is about banging on the glass. Under the updated rule, it is clear that the violation occurs based on the action of a single member of the drive team. If two drivers bang on the glass independently, they have each violated this rule independently. Under the old verbiage, one could try to argue that the entire alliance could bang on the glass and only be subject to a single violation.

G430 is another very clear example. When a high note is entered into the field illegally, it results as a foul. Before the updates, it could be argued that human players could introduce multiple high notes this way and only be subject to a single foul.

It’s annoying to get this kind of update mid season, but it’s a very valuable (and reasonably substantive) change.
