2024 Wpilib with 2023 Libraries

Hi my name is Brennon from team 599

I just wanted to ask to make sure, since the current Wpilib version is 2024 that means that 2023 libraries need to be either updated for 2024 or used with the 2023 Wpilib version right? For example, if I wanted to control a Can SparkMax in 2024 wpilib then I would need an updated REVLIB for 2024? In that case, would it be better to use the 2023 version temporarily until libraries are updated for 2024 or am I mistaken, and 2023 libraries can be utilized somehow in 2024 because I got an error when building which was fixed when I switched to 2023?

You do need to use 2024 libraries with 2024 WPILib yes, but all vendor libraries I know of (and definitely all major ones, including REVLib) have already been updated. REVLib’s online install json for 2024 can be found at https://software-metadata.revrobotics.com/REVLib-2024.json.

Thank you, I just perused Chief Delphi again and saw a post with all of the major libraries and their respective 2024 links. I was looking at the REV Robotics docs which I think hasn’t been updated and is still 2023 so I was thinking that 2023 was the latest version. Thank you for the confirmation
