I’m curious as to peoples thinking about the bumper rule changes for 2025.
The memo indicates that two new materials will be allowed/recommended for cushioning in bumpers:
-
Solid Polyethylene (PE) closed cell foam with density between 1.5 and 3
lb/cu ft. -
Solid Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate (EVA) closed cell foam with density between
2 and 6 lb/cu ft.
Is there any good reason to believe that one of those two materials is superior to the other from a robot protection standpoint? Based on a little looking around, it appears that the PE closed cell foam is less expensive and maybe easier to obtain (Home Depot sells 1" thick sheets of 2 lb/cu ft material)
