Can we get the meme one back? The real one is beyond disappointing.
Hope to win Battery/Radio lottery or get… tie wraps
Anyone know how many points teams got this round (we don’t have access to our code yet).
Wanting to know how many points we’ll have left over after opting into the Radio lottery
500
I recommend reading the whitepaper.
Essentially you don’t pay for what you don’t get, and your next in line preference is taken into account instead. The cart is not limited to your budget - on the contrary; it’s recommended to pick more than the budget allows, for the probable case you won’t get some of what you picked.
Round 1 for this year’s FIRST Choice is now open.
FCbyAM - Everything
It looks like teams have been given 500 Credits for the first round this year. I would like to see recommendations on what to choose this round (if anything). Once again, I’m a bit underwhelmed at the choices. First round submissions are locked on December 2.
In this case, I’d rather not get anything if all the radios are gone by the time the algorithm gets to us.
The only other things of value to our team that’s available this round is the Fluke multimeter and the Molex crimping kit, both things my team already has. There’s also a few small things the team would probably make use of (such as the 3M light clips or rubber bumpers). But I suspect we’ll actually loose money here once we take into account high international shipping fees and duties.
And there is still the possibility that round 2 has new things added that our team could use more than what’s listed this round. I’d rather save our points for even just the possibility here, than waste them on what’s left this round.
I am glad to see that they let you combine Round 1 & Round 2 shipping now!
This is absolutely great for teams (especially international teams).
The one slight caveat to opting to combine round 1 and 2 shipments (based on our experience last season), is you’re seemingly bumped to the end of the line during round 2 waiting for your items to ship.
A lot of this process is automated, and needing to manually combine 1st and 2nd round orders into a single shipment takes time. So I completely understand why this is the case, and it wasn’t really a big deal for us; But if you’re a team that is counting on items to arrive from FIRST Choice to build your robot, I could see this being something to take into account when choosing your shipping options.
Don’t pass on the zip ties. According to the product description, they are “highly useful!”
As a reminder - FIRST Choice is one of three programs under the FIRST Kit of Parts program. They include the Kickoff Kit, the Virtual Kit, and FIRST Choice:

The Virtual Kit “Pre-Season” Voucher Codes & Passwords have also posted today.
Mentors: you can access your FIRST Choice website 2025 password in the same place as all the other voucher codes in your FIRST Dashboard here:
I can’t express how happy I am seeing this option.
Yes. As International team, we basically don’t rely on FC. For many years as being a thing that’s good to have But we don’t necessarily need it to success in competition. Many of the hardware just don’t make sense for us to acquire. Except for proprietary electronic part like PDP and roboRIO There is not much useful for us.
Agree with you that it is a little underwhelming. However, there is at least some valuable stuff you can request. The new battery will have a ton of value to some teams, and if you use a test bed or ever compete a B robot in a compeition then you can get a second Radio and save the $180.
I think the “Default Priority Lists” are in dire need of some basic help. The “Pneumatics” list, for example, is completely blank despite pneumatic components being available and I think there are better options available than the ones that are currently listed under “Rookie”, including the items used in the thumbnail.
Why is the 2023 cube in First Choice? I hope no one does, but it’d be really unfortunate if a team ordered them thinking they were one of this year’s game pieces.
FIRST, please just end this madness. FIRST Choice has outlived it’s usefulness to teams. Most of the stuff on this list isn’t worth the $90 shipping hold on my credit card.

I’ve noticed a significant lack of screamin’ yellow whiffle balls in the first choice catalogue, which means either they got rid of their supply or they’ll be needed in the future…
Are there separate first choice credits for round 1 and round 2?
e.g. 500 credits for the first round
like 600 credits for the second round.
RETWEET! FC has been pitiful the last few years, and when there is something of decent quality very few teams get the benefit from it…
